Is Galactus the most powerful villain in comics? I feel that he would easily destroy Apocalypse and Thanos.
>>
>>150566095
>most powerful villain in comics
Galactus is more a cosmic forces of nature rather than just a villain tho.
>>
>>150566095
Beyonder swats him like a fly in Secret Wars so not really.
>>
>>150566095
What the other anon said, but also tl;dr yes, he could easily eliminate Apocalypse who is an early mutant with some Celestial enhancements, however wiping out a deviant eternal with advanced cybernetic, psionic and mystic enhancements like Thanos takes him a smidge more effort but even Thanos admitted that a weakened Galactus could eventually do it but Thanos escaped finding out for sure due to the threat that doing so would make it so the next due sustenance for Galactus would be that much harder to get to without his ship and with even less energy, so Galactus relented.

There's a second asterisk however in that during the Infinity Gauntlet incident Galactus was still subservient to the influence of the full set infinity gem being like the other higher entities, so it depends on how much Thanos goes out of his way. I'm not counting the Ultimate Nullifier as a means of defeat because I'm fairly sure when Galactus first relented because of it that was a similar situation to Thanos where it wasn't that it could kill him but would deprive him of sustenance enough to make continuing the confrontation fruitless over just leaving.

Trigon could kick his ass.

Most powerful? No. Stronger than Apocalypse and Thanos? Generally yes. He can one-shot a Celestial and his mere Heralds are super busted when it comes to power, the most obvious example being Silver Surfer. He has also occasionally made the mistake of giving the power cosmic to people who can then rival himself, like it happened with Thor.
>>
>>150566095
Thanos without the gaunlet has already admitted he's much weaker than Galactus.
Apocalypse is kind of a mini-Galactus, right down to having "heralds", but he also pales in comparison. Beyonder and God-Doom are above him though.
>>
>>150566241
Literally why don't the F4 let Franklin or a cosmic cube turn him into a jack-in-a-box and free the universe from such a massive threat? And don't give me any of that "he is part of the cycle of the universe" bullshit.
>>
>>150566220
Trigon? Never heard of him.

Thor killed him. But then he was resurrected by the Destroyer with the stipulation that now he hungers for knowledge instead of worlds. Because no one stays dead in comics for long.
>>
>>150566322
>that now he hungers for knowledge instead of worlds
Oh, so now he's the Beyonder. God I hate comics.
>>
>>150566322
at least he also killed galactus' own master (not that he needed one in the 1st place)

I'm not up on my Celestial knowledge. But, is Galactus a Celestial? He looks like he shops at the same store for clothes. If so, how strong does he rank against the other Celestials?
>>
>>150566095
His power floats up and down.

When fed he is supposed to be about equal to the top 4 abstract entities that govern the main Marvel Universe.

When starving he can be fought by costumed heroes. But even then some writers are not fans of that. He tends to be top level cosmic powered, psychic, and is actually more like a star in the relative shape of a human than a big guy in armor.

>>150566283
He is an important cog in the working of the universe. And he is instrumental in instigating the next big bang after this universe eventually dies. A few people did try to kill him but are typically set straight by other cosmic entities when they make the attempt. In the next universe Galactus will be the Eternity and Franklin will be the Galactus.
>>
>>150566095
They wrote him wromg
In tthe comics hes just hungry and hes not agry and he dont strive for power
Then again thats also what makes Galactus boring

His daughter is.
>>

He was originally designed to be. Stan Lee wanted the FF to fight God and his angel so he invented Galactus and Silver Surfer.

He is supposed to be something no hero can actually fight but years of other writers wanting to hype up their own big bad have made Galactus into the standard jobber that loses to the new big event villain every single time one is invented. He can easily handle Apocalypse and Thanos. Galactus is in the top category of the cosmic tier list in Marvel. It normally goes
>Living Tribunal
>Eternity, Infinity, Death, Oblivion
>Galactus
>Beyonders/Cosmic Cubes
>Lord Order/Master Chaos, Eon, Kronos, Mistress Love/Sire Hate, Phoenix, Uni-Power
>Celestials, Watchers, Ego
>In-Betweener, Stranger,
>Skyfathers/Hell Lords- the Top rulers of god and demon realms like Odin, Zeus, Mephisto, Satannish etc.
>Thanos is a bit beneath a Skyfather

Apocalypse is not really on the list or near it. He's an immortal mutant that has some fancy celestial armor and the techno virus.
>>
>>150566283
>why don't they just permanently get rid of a popular and recognizable character?
>>
>>150566114
This. Everyone forgets....

Dude just hungry. He isn't malicious against X or Y planet or species. Just needs nosh.
>>
>>150567188
No, they were just designed by Jack Kirby who made pretty much all higher level cosmic guys look about the same. Same with gods like the Asgardians and New Gods too.

Galactus is some guy named Galan from the previous universe that merged with the dying Eternity and formed into Galactus in the big bang.

Celestials are the first lifeforms that came into existence and are highly evolved energy beings now. Watchers artificially evolved themselves into something similar and are on almost the same level with them but never interfere with life.
>>
>>150567491
He was kind of a complete asshole in the 70s and 80s. Usually he is totally dismissive of all life around him and ignored everyone, and in one Dazzler issue he actively ignores anyone who is not around his own power level. But he would still get insulted or angry and take petty revenge on anyone that annoyed him. He threatened to kill Dr Strange and Warlock a lot.
>>
I like the Anti-Monitor better
>>
>>150566283
Because he's part of nature, it would be like getting rid of forest fires. People bitch about them but forest fires are needed
>>
I will not stand for this besmirchment of poccy daddy
>>
>>150566095
He's definitely up there
>>
>>150567469
I thought Galactus was more a peer of Order/Chaos.
>>
>>150567861
Is this official art?
>>
>>150567473
>Why doesn't Batman kill the Joker?
>>
>>150567469
Surfer was purely a Kirby creation. Stan himself was surprised by the drawings since that wasn't in the script.
>>
>>150567559
His indifference is not out of malice, he just exists at a higher level on the chain. You might not have any hatred towards ants, but you accept that you will stomp over them inevitably since we are at a completely different scale.
>>
>>150568155
Nope
>>
>>150566095
That's still Great Evil Beast or Lucifer. Or Mandrakk. Or Giga Darkseid. Or Batkek.
>>
I'd like to see Galactus depicted in a more lovecraftian manner. Not in the sense that he is eldritch but in the sense that we are so insignificant compared to him that he invokes primal fear, and he is out there. Someone so vast that he is unaware of the races of the galaxy, but at the same time they tiptoe around him out of mortal dread that he might notice them. I want to see cults of Galactus that aim to appease or invite him and of whom he is also ignorant of, but who get taken advantage of by lesser powerful entities.

I feel like older writers really did have more appreciation for the scale of things. More awe at the absolute grandness of the universe. Galactus wasn't a foe to best. It's why they bargained with him rather than punched him out. Now people just take power scaling too far.
>My villain can destroy a planet
>Mine a galaxy
>Mine the universe
>Mine the MULTI VERSE!
And after a point the scale becomes too big to feel. People can't comprehend the universe. Can't visualize it. So no matter how powerful the villain claims to be the fights still feel the same.
>>
>>150566095
No that would have to be something like Mandrakk, The One Below All or The Great Darkness
>>
>>150567559
>He was kind of a complete asshole in the 70s and 80s.
Bruh. Do you seriously think God doesn't have asshole moments too?
>>

he's probably a New Testament fag
>>
>>150566322
That BS. Galactus store in his body the power of the planets because in a distant future that energy will start the next universe where Franklin will be the nu-galactus

I find that most people who have only kinda heard of Galactus believe that he literally eats planets like with his mouth
How many of you don't know that he actually goes down and sets up a machine to suck the life force out
>>
Galactus isn't a Villain nor is he the most powerful. He can destroy Apocalypse and Thanos whenever he wants, though. Galactus is largely indifferent to everything.

Sometimes Thanos gets a powerup that puts him at or above Galactus level.
>>
>>150575209
He can suck the life out by himself but its faster with the machine he built. Usually he prefers to eat them raw only when they are young and molten. Those are his favorite worlds to eat.
>>
>>150567469
Reminder that some random Earth Storm Deity is now some kind of supreme hyperversal threat.

The only people who hype up Trigon are the people whose only exposure to him and comic book characters is from watching Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, and now they like to pretend they know who either characters are. Trigon was never a Crisis level threat.

Dormammu is stronger than Trigon and Galactus ate him.

how would Unicron hold up against Galactus?
>>
>>150576058
Could put up a fight but ultimately he would lose. Death Battle already handled it quite well. People who say otherwise are just Tribal Warfare victims who are mad the character they like more lost.
>>
>>150575866
Don't worry storm killed him
>>
>>150576058
Depending strictly on the Unicron being portrayed he may be anything from a Death Star mecha built by a monkey to the multiversal God of evil and chaos. So it varies.
>>

Im sure the beyonder is above the living tribunal, at least his original iteration.

>Apocalypse and Thanos.
I know Thanos has the whole Infinity Gauntlet thing going on and even without can build some pretty crazy crap but does anyone really think Apocalypse is on their level?
>>
>>150577254
He is one of the most well know x-villains and makes a big deal about survival of the fittest so casual x-fags think he is big deal in universe.
>>
>>150577254
It tends to be hard for people to gauge how well villains would do against other heroes. Also mutant wank for a long time had people thing Mag, Apoc, exodus, Vulcan, ect, could solo the world because they could beat X-teams.
>>
>>150577614
Kang is unironically a bigger deal then Apocalypse in-universe.
