What do you guys think about Tom King's?
Is he the true successor to Alan Moore?
He's won so many Eisners and hes continued Moores legacy with his Swamp Thing and Rorsach stories.
Could you imagine Tom King's doing more stories in the Watchmen franchise?

I liked Vision but over the years I became more and more displeased with his handling of capeshit characters
That said, I DON'T think he's a war criminal

He's shit and a nepochild

No

The judges are retards and he's not continuing shit

I've only read The Vision, The Omega Men, Batman vs. Elmer Fudd, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Grayson: Future's End, and some of those frequently-posted pages from Heroes in Crisis and his Batman run. None of it is good or even decent. He seems to have a good handle on structure gimmicks and window dressing (read: making his comics come-off like Watchmen), but he's awful at dialogue, humor, and characterization.

Every comic writer that has ever been proclaimed to be the next Alan Moore has fallen very short of that. Based on what I've read, Tom King is no exception.
Grant Morrison is the only one that came close.

Kings eisners are worth less than dwj eisners for example
King failed to make me feel anything but cringe over 2 big runs
Dwj made me feel sad and hopeful with 6 issues of transformers
King proves that cia is the second fayest fed agency after atf
And moore is greatly overrated due to decades of glazing
>>

Moore deserves his rating. King does not.

No. I cant see him doing anything with Watchmen. His Rorschach is subpar and damaged any trust in current DC to hire good people.

Was Morrison ever called the next Alan Moore? I only remember that he was called the next british invasion writer.
Wasnt he and Garth kimda the late british invasion guys?

Moores ratings are deserved. His writing is top. Even when you compare him with literature it is very good. I never read his book but what i heard it is ok.

In what goatspeak is this proper grammar

I think the subsequent Brits were sort of considered Alan Moores. If I remember correctly, in comics journalism, they liked to say he was his successor.
>>
It's interesting how many people have taken the bait on this obvious troll post.
I'd say that Tom King represents the Americanization of the British Invasion style. He's doing it better than his contemporaries (e.g. Snyder, Williamson)
>>
>>150606007
He's pretty fucking bad at it.
>>
>>150606007
Williamson is just Johns 2.0.
>>
>>150605899
Oh, ok. So he was seen as a Moore or more a real successor?
>>
>>150602473

His what?
>Is he the true successor to Alan Moore?
In his head maybe
>He's won so many Eisners and hes continued Moores legacy with his Swamp Thing and Rorsach stories.
The eisner hasn't had any meaning since they gave one to Dennis Hopeless.
>Could you imagine Tom King's doing more stories in the Watchmen franchise?
I can imagine DC milking a brand yes

I hung out with [NAMED REDACTED] recently and they told me a few things about King

He really IS an asshole and is disliked by most talent within the industry. He's been known to call up his artist and scream at them over the phone.

His 'apology' to Jae Lee was crap and he shits on him in private chats.

He hates Scott Snyder and is furiously jealous that he has more Eisners than he does.

Jim Lee is about to hit his 20 years and get his golden parachute. King is being STRONGLY considered to replace him as DC Comics publisher. God help us all....
>>
>>150606720
DC hasn't really been worth reading since the 2010s anyway.
>>
>>150606325
All according to your personal tastes. Unpopular here but I liked Up in the Sky, Woman of Tomorrow, Strange Adventures, Mister Miracle, and Grayson.
For Snyder I've only liked Black Mirror and American Vampire.
>>
>>150602473
>Is he the true successor to Alan Moore?
LOL. Grant Morrison mogs Tom King, with King literally trying to out Morrison him (as many guys have tried) and even Morrison is not a successor to Moore. Thankfully he stopped trying to do that and moved on.
>>
Will his show be good?
>>
>>150607452
I thought Superman Up in the Sky was okay but you can really see that King is desperately trying to copy Grant's homework without getting caught.
>>
>>150607566
No, King Mr. Miracle was infuriatingly bad because it was based entirely on horribly mischaracterizing Scott and playing fast and loose with what little New Gods lore exists
>>
>>150602473
I want to give Tom King one more chance.
Which comic of his should I read or reread?
>>
>>150608301
Superman Up in the Sky
>>
>>150607598
His entire Batman run was an "Oh yeah? Well!" that only got topped by Zdarsky's fucking meltdown.
>>
>>150607566
Why is barda so ugly? Say what you want about kings writing but his stories usually have some bad bitches in it
>>
>>150602473
Comics badly need a new Alan Moore.
>>
>>150609739
Nah, let them die.
>>
>>150602473
Most of what Tom King writes is one note crap. However he does occasionally have a "broken clock" moment. Like Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow is pretty good
>>
>>150609739
What does being "the new Alan Moore" mean to you, anon?
>>
>>150602473
Tom King WANTS to be the successor to Alan Moore. Some say Camp is in the running, I doubt it personally. Moore's hand picked favorites are Garth Ennis and Kieron Gillen
>>
>>150611155
No.
>>150612089
Someone who peps up the comics industry and inspires a lot of good comics with more thought and research than we're used to.
We'd need a new Frank Miller too at the same time.
>>
>>150613308
I doubt we'd ever get another Miller anytime soon, Kaare Andrews tried but didn't quite stick the landing
>>
What does it really take to be the next Alan Moore?
>>
>>150613724
Have a vast knowledge of literature, and other mediums outside of comics, take influence from more than just comics, have an interesting philosophical or spiritual worldview, examine the ideologies of every character you write, know what makes them tick. Most comic writers now wouldn't be able to write Adam Susan as anything but one note but in V For Vendetta you almost feel bad for the bastard. He's a horrible fascist dictator but there's a human element that Moore adds.
>>
>>150613800
Also, be business unsavvy enough to work in American comics.
>>
>>150612143
Camp isn't that good.
20th Century Men falls very short of Watchmen, Agent of W.O.R.L.D.E. is a lesser version of The Filth, his Ultimates run is genuinely awful, and Absolute Martian Manhunter is carried by the art, conceptually a discount Shade the Changing Man by Milligan.
