To clarify, not strictly about the Gem Empire, but all the planets they ravaged and the alien races that had to survive their onslaught.

I thought it'd be cool if the survivors had assembled a coalition to fight back and destroy the Gem Empire. A Lars show of him traveling through space would be about him discovering this plot to destroy the Diamonds and trying to prevent the war.

Or something else, I'm sure there's a bunch of cool ideas you do with a space-faring human with a crew of gem aliens.

The survivors vs gempire part sounds cool though I'm not sure how there would be survivors since no other planet to our knowledge had a Pink Diamond that protected it from getting all it's organic life killed by said ravaging, but I really don't see how centering it around another pink townie is gonna improve this show (besides throwing a bone to the Lars x Emerald shippers). I think it would be better to have them as side characters

They could escape the planet via their own mode of transport before total destruction, or they could've been rescued by a third party, a group that goes around the universe just trying to save as many societies from the Gems as they possibly can.

Centering it on Lars is sensible because he has space-traveling experience, combat experience, and proven leadership capabilities with his team.

As for why Lars and not Steven, it's already been shown that Steven wants to travel on the road to center himself. Lars, on the other hand, is now a near-immortal who went from battling in space to back to his small hometown. I imagine that Lars would be craving adventure again, and to have fun with his old crew.

I bet Emerald is the one that pushes him to go back into space.

These are both valid reasons to have him included in this sequel but neither are really a reason why he should be the main character.
Making Steven the MC in the original show made sense because his mother's actions drastically changed gem society

What does Lars have to do with survivors of the ravaged planets rising up against the Gempire? If his crew consisted of non-gem aliens then it would kind of make sense but that isn't the case

I think our Peridot is the best but it would be interesting to see other Peridots. Actually I would rather have this sequel be all about Peridot and Peridots instead since we didn't get any sort of Peridot backstory in the show and she's quite a popular character but this is Ian and Rebecca we're talking about so that's too based to happen

Actually, I think this would be an especially good point. Because his planet was MARKED for colonization, but was fought off.

Lars, as a normal human from Beach City, would be relatable to the survivors, since he lived through near-apocalyptic events at home, while also knowing that the Gems are good now and trying to convince an antagonistic force that the Gems aren't enemies now.

I imagine these survivors wouldn't be at all forgiving, which was entirely Steven's thing. Lars, in contrast, has a lot of anger himself and wouldn't so quickly jump to the conclusion of finding peace at all cost.

I'm not sure, he didn't actually live through any sort of apocalypse like these survivors would have, his life was mostly normal with no sign of gem-induced suffering until he got kidnapped at which point he did fight against gems but not in a way these survivors would have fought against having their planet ravaged.

Still, I'd have to agree with you that he'd be more relatable than most other humans but centering the sequel on this character who's had absolutely nothing to do with the survivors rebelling against the Gempire feels forced if that's what the plot is going to be about. If instead it's going to be about Lars' personal experiences during all of this then it's gonna get boring to most viewers because everybody is going to wonder what happens next with the rebellion and not what Lars thinks of it
