Alright anon, if (You) were writing Incredibles 2, how would you do it? Hard mode: No timeskips longer than one (1) year. No sneaky wordsmithing to try to get around this restraint.

The Bob as a stay at home dad gags were fun, but cut them back to focus on Evelyn and Helen. Really drive home the point in the movie that Evelyn's dad put ALL his faith in someone else and paid for it with his life, and how Evelyn took the opposite turn and resolved never too trust anyone in her life ever with anything. Both of them unhealthy extremes, while her brother took a healthy medium of being open to other people while honing his own strengths. That's there in the final film, but a little underbaked.
Tough question. The first Incredibles is my favorite movie, I'm really not sure how to meaningfully expand upon it. Here's some ideas>Movie is about healing the rift between humans and supers>The cut Gazerbeam funeral is the opening, NOT the Underminer scene. While fun, the Underminer scene is only that. The funeral did an amazing job of grounding the characters, like the interviews did in the first. Establishes that supers are coming from a place of loss, not superiority>Dash and Violet are more of a focus this time, since the first movie was mostly about Bob and Helen. Have analogues about teenage identity, what to do in life, and the powers debate on whether they'd rather be homemakers, or supers>Villain could be a super fanatic that appeals to some supers, but not others. Optionally, just reveal Gamma Jack also faked his death like Bob did. This drives the story>Big conflict in the film comes from Jack-Jack being kidnapped by the fanatic, as he's expressed more powers than anybody ever>Alternatively, the cut plot line from the original pitch could be expanded upon, when Proto-syndrome said "Supers aren't supposed to breed". It could be a big PR thing about Helen and Bob having kids, when the government said (and lied) that supers wouldn't have more children>Bernie becomes a recurring joke character in this. Driven insane by Dash's tack trick, he becomes a public speaker with more and more unhinged statements about the government. They wipe his memories to shut him up and fail, because he keeps leaving notes for himself. This note leaving creates a stupider and stupider game of telephone, until it culminates into him being accidentally right about everything. That being said, I think the first movie was so perfect it doesn't need a direct sequel. A spin-off or even prequel would do more.
