Hey /co/. I just recently finished Amphibia. It's been a long time since I sat down and just watched a cartoon on my own. I actually ended up loving it way more than I thought I would. Didn't catch a lick of the show as it was airing though. It seemed like it would've been fun to do so live though, especially during later seasons. What did you think? I liked the first season a lot because it seemed to have solved the problem caused by "lore" cartoons in the artificial division of episodes in "important" and "filler" by doing a slow-burn story about Anne becoming more accepted and love in Frogtown, and then the finale was a really interesting complication on a basic "fake friend" story where simply rejecting the bad friend is not a solution.But the second season didn't follow from the bold finale of the first season (Sasha never acts like she had a brush with death) and sometime dawdles while the plot does nothing and towards the end major frog characters get sidelined in favor of increased screentime for Sasha and the introduction of Marcy. The endind of the second season is maybe as bold as the first but even as it premiered it was hard to imagine it would properly pay the consequences from Marcy fucking dying.And it doesn't. Season three spends way too long in an unremarkable cartoon version of Los Angeles where it fails to create an interesting new secondary cast, and the episodes back in Amphibia consciously lead up to a finale that ends up throwing away everything it had been building up and does a bunch of dumb spectable instead. The final episode is pretty retarded.tl:dr- Every season is weaker than the last and every season ends with a big drama bomb it refuses to deal with honestly. Maggie is best girl.

It seems as if it was a supposed to be a major thing in the series that Anne is a bad person when she goes to Amphibia but her experiances there correct her path; when she gets her breastplate she comments "I finally like who I see in the mirror" and when she returns to Earth her parents are amazed that she isn't a shit anymore.But the most extensive flashback to the backstory, before Anne came to Amphibia, shows Anne being a GOOD kid whose only moral failing is a lack of courage. It emphasized this strongly when Sasha leads Anne in ditch school for the day and Anne is so innocent she fails to realize Sasha was lying about going to the nurse over a stomache. So why would Anne think of herself as a bad person? Why would her parents apparently think so as well and be surprised how much she's improved?

Season 3A drastically brings down the rest of the series as a whole. Aside from being an absolute tonal blackhole, most of the episodes were centered around the same eyerolling talking point tropes that only Californiggers care about, such as generation trauma, cultural appropriation, LGBTBBQASSFAGGOTS virtue signaling, done in such a detached and listless manner that you wonder if the writers had ever watched the rest of the series before it. The most glaring problems being Anne's lackadaisical attitude, and tip-toeing around the subject of Marcy + Sasha's continued disappearance. It's incredible that the least deserving DTVA show was given a third season, and predictably they used their unearned fame and promotion to shill this crap and take uninterested viewers on a digital tour of LA. ToH budgeted its lesser time wisely. Molly McGee fans and Wander fans would've killed for a third season. Even Hailey would've scraped up something better, and Star vs could've used another season or movie to repair the damage now that Nefcy's postpartum depression has passed. Anything besides this load of frog shit.
