To stop this the worm found out the moth infected bugs through their thoughts and so thought he could trap the moth in a mindless vessel.To create this mindless vessel he fucked a tree and made literal billions of children and dumped them all into the void to be born mindless.He picked the one that was strong enough to climb back out of the void to be the chosen vessel and then trained it to be strong both physically and mentally.However one day he looked at this vessel and saw his child and from that knew this plan wouldn't work. So on top of the vessel idea he brought together the 3 strongest minds of his kingdom to be put in a coma forever to trap the vessel to trap the moth.There was the watcher guy who isn't all important, the jellyfish who Quirrel (Protag of the official comic) was an apprentice of and a fat spider.All of them were on board with the plan except the spider. This spider came from the kingdom of the second game, and was apart of a group of spiders that were granted minds by the god of silk to make silk since said god of silk couldn't make silk.So her group of spiders wanted an heir to become the new god of silk so they could rule this other kingdom, so she agreed to do that if the worm impregnated her, this is where Hornet comes from(the protag of the second game).Afterwards the spider realized that becoming the god of silk is stupid and encouraged Hornet to be her own half spider, half worm thing and went to fall asleep forever.And that plan worked for a time, enough to get a statue made of the event before it didn't.And now the kingdom is in ruins, everyone is thinking of this moth before we show up as one of the failed vessels from the tree fucking plan who escaped the void, fled the kingdom and did god knows what between that and now.

After the Pale King completed his plan to create a perfectly pure Vessel to seal the Radiance, he wanted to lock the Vessel away in essentially a perfect prison. So he convinced three powerful bugs to lock away this temple behind a magic barriee which would be sustained by perfect slumber. One of these bugs was a Pale King loyalist, one of them was a big research nerd. And the third was the queen of Deepnest, Herrah the Beast. In exchange for her help, Herrah asked to be given a chile so the Pale King fucked her and Hornet was born. Its also heavily implied that she and her people helped with the details of designing the sealing magic itself. So after the plan goes wrong and the Kingdom has collapsed, the only way into the temple is to kill the Dreamers. Hornet only stands by because she believes your vessel has a chance to change things for the better.

And Silksong gives us another scene of them together via the Red Memory sequence, which further demonstrates Hornet's love for her even if they shared little time together.And yes, Herrah is aware of her fate, she is clearly conscious as she dreams as the Dreamers have a couple bits of dialogue with you throughout the game, and you can dreamnail her before her death. Her last thoughts are "Give all for her."

Silksong really does a good job of exploring her character in more depth and its clear she carries a lot of regrets but its also clear she is someone who is willing to make hard choices.Lots of fat bugs exist, but its notable that all the Weavers we see are skinny as fuck. Its entirely possible that the Pale King altered Herrah's body in some way to help her concieve a child, as we learn in Silksong that the Weavers have great difficulty bearing children, with it being referred to as a curse. This likely ties into how they were created, as they are a race of divinely uplifted bugs, altered to act as the children of a living god.Herrah's "mother" and creator is quite thicc.

I personally believe its entirely possible that the White Lady did not want to intrude too much upon Herrah's daughter's own autonomy (she says she carries affection towards Hornet so its not like she just neglected her out of spite), and perhaps wanted to allow her a name and identity freely chosen. Silksong makes it clear that Hornet carries her own affection towards the Hive, but whether Vespa granted her that name or she chose it herself is up in the air.
