>Hip teenage Tony Stark in high school>Actually manages to make him compelling to a satisfactory level, translating a lot of the adult Tony's character traits to a teenage environment pretty well. It's far from perfect, of course, but HOW they didn't totally fuck this up will forever astound me.
>>150631082Shonen rival Mandarin is one of the weirdest adaptation ever
>>150631127Yeah but the thing is that it works weirdly enough
thought the theme song was a bop as a kid
>>150631173It still is
>>150631127But it also genuinely is the best adaption he ever got, that terracotta armour is fucking rad and he's developed as a character to feel nuanced but allowed to be a suitable arch enemy to Tony in their contrast yet similarities and how he's consumed by his quest for the ten rings. Honestly this show did the rogues gallery utterly well with some really clever ideas like Crimson Dynamo as an abandoned cosmonaut in a high tech suit wanting revenge for being abandoned in space, Whiplash being essentially a sadist enforcer for Mr Fix with a sleek design and Ghost though not being the enjoyably deranged corporate anarchist/conspiracy nut of the comics is a lot of fun as a super competent and utterly pragmatic mercenary who knows the best way to get a good payday from his villainous career.
>>150631437Yeah. Honestly, this show proved that a good rogues gallery comes from good creatives rather than innate concepts
>>150631479Honestly if this team got to do a Captain America show or a Hulk show considering they exist in Ironman Armored Adventures setting, that would've been the tits. Like this art style and character design would've done godly work with the Serpent Society, Baron Zemo, Abomination, Arnim Zola or the U-Foes.
>>150631642Yeah, that'd be pretty cool.
>>150631082Never actually watched this but I kept hearing good things about it. Did the show get to finish it's story or did it stop short at some point?
>>150633130It does have a little open ended tone such as the adventure can continue but overall most of the important plot threads get wrapped up and it concludes the major myth arc of the Makuluan rings.
I feel like teenage Tony could be a really cool plotline if they leaned more into his vulnerabilities that he uses the Iron Man armor to make up for
>>150631082best Modok and Doom in animation or films so far too
>>150633275Doom was just a dick and I love it
>>150631479I generally believe that all the threads claiming "Character Bad Because Bad Rogues Gallery" or something were probably made by people in the company to damage control for how badly a title is doing under their watch
This and Avengers: EMH was a good time to be a Marvel fan and a fan of animation.
>>150633434Yeah
>>150631082Teen Tony is an idea that gets floated by once in a while in the comics, to the point that the current Ultimate Tony is another Teen Tony, but it rarely ever works well. This was a strange exception
>>150633776It's mainly because it actually leans into it

It managed to work in a lot of ways. Probably helped that while Tony's worst traits were toned down (and some obviously removed because he's a kid), he still had the general feel of Tony Stark, a brilliant mind who tries to protect the world with his amazing tech. Probably helps that there were YEARS of "popular character, but as a kid" shows before, including Spectacular Spider-Man, Batman Beyond, and The Batman (granted, Terry and Bruce in those weren't quite as young as Tony). The animation was also pretty solid, helped that they went with a cel-shaded style that popped nicely, even more so than the MTV Spider-man where you could see some really obvious jank in the characters (of course, the shows were like 8-9 years apart, lol). Pepper and Rhodey were also pretty entertaining, being solid foils to Tony.
>>150631173It was fucking amazing, same with Spectacular Spider-Man's theme. They managed to match the 90s themes, which set a pretty high bar, especially in the case of SMTAS.
>>150633822Also Tony was more streamlined as a character
This show and Batman Beyond makes all the Spider-Man fans who say Peter shouldn't have stories as an inexperienced teenager look funny, well, them and Spectacular Spider-Man.
>>150634036Who's saying that Spider-Man can't be a teenager? We're saying that he shouldn't always be a teenager
>>150631082Legit some of the best redesigns I've ever seen. Its Mandarin is top tier in looking badass.
>>150634036Bit odd given Peter was a teen originally. That said, it does get a bit old when he's "reset" with most of the shows. Of course, another issue with a lot of current Spider-Man shows is how nearly every other spider person rocks up within the first fucking season and so Peter winds up sidelined in the show where he's got the lead billing
>>150634125This is why you make them antagonists
>>150634149Not sure how that would work given they're generally allies. I'd be fine with just NOT having them for once, since it's been at least what, 3 shows in a row with Miles and Gwen as supporting characters?
>>150634125I want a Clone Saga adaptation. A proper one, none of that Ultimate shit
>>150631127I have a distinct memory of his throwing the 5 rings on the ground only for it to be revealed that there are 5 more
>>150634196Having Eddie as Venom again would also be nice too
>>150634236What's that? You want Harry as Venom? Great idea! That way we can smush two storylines into one and everyone is happy!
>>150634073They managed to make Unicorn have an insanely cool design which must've been difficult. Ultimo also looks his best in the show.
>>150634253As messy as the second Playstation game was, I'll give them credit for at leas TRYING with that change compared to Ultimate where it just happens for little to no reason. Or that one cartoon where it was a fucking gym teacher or whatever nobody cares about.
>>150634253It's funny cause I get the superficial intent behind the idea but it always just turns out awful, the 2017 show was really bad for randomly making characters have supervillain mantles instead of just using the actual character. In Armored Adventure though I would've preferred Boris Bullski as Titanium Man, Justin Hammer using the suit at least worked since he's a great scumbag villain in the show and it somewhat works since it doesn't overlap with Obadiah Stane since they make Iron Monger so different plus do a good job contrasting them as bad guy businessmen.
>>150634331Also helps that the rights weren't nearly as tangled then as they are now where the Mouse has this and that, Sony has whatever, and isn't there a third company holding some of the rights and being even more stingy than other two retard companies?
>>150634346God it's nonsensical to keep track of, it's why Hulk got so fucked over the in the MCU despite being absolutely a solo leading character that never got enough solo film or why the Fantastic Four only joined the MCU after its entering its death knell. Genuinely I'd kill either for good animated marvel content again or for the movies or future movies not be in a cinematic universe and just be more comic faithful. Like I don't hate all the MCU since I was along for the ride growing up and I think it has some good points but yeah I'd take high budget animated adaptions nowadays in a heart beat.
>>150634125He was barely a teenager he graduates high school in under like 60 issues
>>150634463He was 15 or so back then
>>150634187No, I mean make Miles a villain
>>150631082Did this show get a lot of toys? I forget. Always struck me as a very toyetic show given how many different armors Tony busts out. I think the Space Armor was my favorite alternate armor.
>>150634502Not as many as you think, there was more of a toyline based on the comics and films around Ironman 2's release date which was smaller scale figures and not Marvel Legend sized.
>>150631082Between this and Batman Beyond, maybe "superhero but a high school teenager" isn't such a bad idea.
>>150634594you might wanna walk back on that generalized statement muchacho
>>150634594Batman Beyond was kino in spite of this, not because of it.
>>150633812
I liked this show's version of Living Laser and Obadiah Stane.
>>150634718I liked that despite being a dumbass, enough to where his hostages had to tell him what he should actually do with the power at his finger tips that Arthur also genuinely redeemed himself when given the chance since his biggest problem was just mental baggage and not knowing what to do with himself.
>>150631082Bump
>>150631082I remember seeing a post before, saying something along the lines that "making the characters teens recontextualizes a lot of the silliness and love-triangle nonsense of the silver age comics into something that's more believable", like the suit's roller skates, and honestly I can kinda see where that anon was coming from. This show rocks. And yeah, a lot of the villains had their best designs in this show, I remember I really loved Whiplash's.
This show makes me want to see something similar but with other characters. Like Wolverine.Since mutant powers kickstart at puberty, it would be fun if Logan is still stuck in a teen’s body and due to his mind being wiped out he actually believes it. Though instinctively he has difficulty adjusting to the situation, like wanting to drink beer (no alcohol at the school Logan). Or trying to flirt with Jean (she’s “older” than you Logan).
>>150634605Oh anon it was still done but expanded to include all of DC. Multiple times even.
>>150631437>Ghost though not being the enjoyably deranged corporate anarchist/conspiracy nut of the comics is a lot of fun as a super competent and utterly pragmatic mercenary who knows the best way to get a good payday from his villainous career. This Ghost was the best taskmaster ever on screen
>>150634616No, because is the right word, Batman Beyond would be a less enjoyable show if Terry wasn't a teenager. A world without schway is schwarbage.
>>150634484>He was 15 or so back then17. Him being 15 was a retcon. And no, he didn't age in real time back in those days. That's a myth. Bro was in his senior year just like Raimiman.
>>150634640Who
>>150633130The rings are found and the entire Mandarin plot is finished, it could continue but the whole point is that Tony is under age and it ends just before he turns 18 which is when he is set to get control over Stark Industries which was the other major plot point. The show did a proper ending but could theoretically have kept going as just an Iron Man series.
Marvel in the late 2000s had good cartoons, or at least were some of their best ones. >>150634463ASM 28. Peter can be adapted as a teenager, but the problem is that it's the case most of the times now so it gets boring
>>150636124nta but that still isn't a good example lmao
>>150634321>second Playstation gameWhich one? The new one, the PS1 one, or the PS2 one?
>>150633434When you write a character, you have to write on top of the original concept. So a bad gallery ends up making the writer's job much harder. Note that this series tones down a lot of what makes these stories bad in the first place.
>>150631082This series told me Iron Man should have had more cartoons, i love how they "armorfied" all the villains
Huh, always thought it looked too kiddy for me when it came out but lots of you anons are really selling it to me here. The only thing I truly enjoyed it for was some choice pieces of porn from Incognitymous back in the day.
>>150640613i still have the pepper ones if thats what you're talking about
>>150631082>It's far from perfect, of course, but HOW they didn't totally fuck this up will forever astound me.It was written and edited by Yost who's also the guy who did Kaine's Scarlet Spider run and wrote a lot of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
>>150634594>Between this and Batman Beyond, maybe "superhero but a high school teenager" isn't such a bad idea.don't forget X-Men Evolution
>>150634594Anon, Batman Beyond is the result of the writers finding a loophole in the "Batman in high school" commission. They didn't want to put Bruce in high school at all.
>>150638742Then make the rogues good. If they're not good, you can take a lot of liberties. The problem is a lot of writers forget that capeshit is supposed to be fun, and their attempts at reimagining a character usually makes them more violent and psychopathic.
>>150640852Fair
>>150636423That's still a TEEN, genius
>>150640932That one was a bit interesting given a lot of the characters were introduced around their teens or have shifted between being teens/young adults at their introduction within certain continuities. Guess what I'm saying is that it fits since Xavier's place is a school/boarding house for kids and adults dealing with their powers. With Batman Beyond and Iron Man Armored Adventures, they took a generally adult aged character and made them into a teen for the duration of their exploits instead of "here's a flashback of Tony when he was 17 and becoming a party animal"
>>150638508Pretty sure the PS1 games went to Dreamcast and I think PC too. And just about anything that was on PS2 went to Xbox/Xbox260
>>150638486>successful and popular franchise with multiple versions in both comics and cartoons>literally has a thread up right now that will likely hit bump limit>not a good example
>>150640932Good example although the original X-Men started off as teens in the comics.
>>150637782Their shows in the 90s weren't too bad either. X-Men, Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, Fantastic Four. It was even pretty cool how so many of the shows were connected in some way or another, though as I recall, the bulk of those connections were mostly between X-Men and Spider-Man, since I think Hulk only cameo'd ONCE in X-Men, and it wasn't even the real Hulk, just a hologram/android or whatever in the Danger Room.
>>150631082Also the only time Pepper Potts was anything but an obnoxious wet blanket.
>>150642583She was a bit obnoxious, but at least it could be chalked up to her being an impulsive teen.
>>150642583>>150643433It's the only time I've been able to remember anything about her, simply because of that cute-but-stupid outfit she has.
>>150643483Kind of feels like someone the design team saw Yukari from Persona 3 and went "let's do something like that, but more western"

>>150631173It and the theme for Generator Rex had no right being so that good
>>150643433She was annoying but in a cute way.
>>150641619Neat
Any pepper ideas or requests. I might do one or two if they peak my interest.
>>150643939Honestly just her in a sexy pose in the Rescue Armour please. Mask on or off is up to you.
>>150633275Doom was so cool. I love how he completely clowned on Tony the first time he appeared, almost like a horror villain.
>>150643939Wearing her Rescue armor and looking in a mirror while asking an offscreen Tony if the suit makes her butt look big
>>150634605To be fair, THAT never manifested, though it could have been interesting if the writers found a good balance between the costume hijinks and the school setting. Given Bats and the villains would have all been kids, I'd imagine they would have gone for Bruce trying to push reform on the rogues instead of the usual Arkham summer vacation
>>150643939Her posing like a JoJo character with the Rescue armor
>>150644375Seconded
>>150643995Have they ever gone wrong with cartoon Dooms? Barring super kiddie shows, I can't recall many of his animated depictions being all that terrible, especially compared to most of his movie depictions that keep turning him into a freaking Terminator for god knows whatever reason.
>>150631437>>150636290>Ghost! Defeat Iron Man!>haha... You dont have that kind of money... *disapears into the floor*will never forget that scene personally>>150634225

>>150644904Pepper Potts watering some peppers growing in a pot.
>>150644904How about her in a sexy S.H.I.E.L.D bodysuit I guess
>>150644904Sure, Pepper in a bikini with the colors of her armor
>>150644765Cheapskate
>>150644904Shame, I liked the jojo ideaSince it’s spooky month than her as a cute/sexy vampire?
>>150641121One of the few redeeming aspects of "Beware the Batman" was that they intentionally focused on revamping C- and D-tier rogues. However, it was a mixed bag in terms of execution. Silver Monkey was a lot of fun, and Magpie as "Lady Gaga playing a mentally ill Catwoman" worked oddly well. That was also the period when DC was trying to make Katana a star, and that... went just OK, but the show's writing wasn't strong enough to carry the slow burn origin for her as a partner for Batman.
>>150631082Having a teenage Tony Stark who is heroic from the go makes more sense for the character because it's just King Arthur/Robin Hood (the returning prince-knight coming to reclaim his kingdom and defend his home). Same overlap with Batman.Comics Tony has always struggled with popularity because people like the idea of Iron Man as a heroic figure, but the pitch of "the guy you're reading about was a shitty rich dickhead and not in a fun or exciting way" is too much baggage that the comics themselves can't really delve into as they should due to the long-running nature of things and the general tone/atmosphere (Comics Tony would fit a novel trilogy better). There's a reason why Rhodey's comics sold better than Tony's. People just want a heroic man behind the armor, not an asshole.
>>150634594>Ben 10>MLAATR>Kim Possible>Miraculous Ladybug>Jake Long>Danny PhantomHaving a teen superhero makes sense because most superheroes took heavy influence from the hero pulps, and the only real difference between someone like Doc Savage vs Superman was the latter having powers and a fantastical origin. Spider-Man's presence creating the teen hero (as a solo act that was grounded in everyday life) was inevitable because despite most heroes in the pulps being rich, a fair amount of them were ordinary people with jobs and lives outside of hero work.
>>150646472I wrote an Iron Man reimagining where he's a teen. But instead of it being about him being hip and cool, it's more about him being an isolated and miserable young man who has genetic illnesses that render him frail, but becomes Iron Man to avenge his father
The Hulk episode was pretty fun. Would have been nice if the transformation had more going for it than just flashy effects, but I get it probably would have cost a lot to animate Bruce changing if he wasn't going to be in too many episodes
>>150645380https://files.catbox.moe/ghmok2.pngHows this.
>>150642255>successful and popular franchiseSo successful that its movie needed Teen Titans Go...

>>150648088I vaguely remember that. It was the thread with Hela as OP, ight?
>>150648219Damn, that's pretty impressive, thanks. Might not be the right colors, but definitely better than I was expecting
>>150648614>>150648460I changed the colors
>>150648592Yeah, I think?I'm even drawing art for it
>>150648302I imagine most aren't designed with an endgame in mind, at least in a lot of cases. Most are episodic, so that already tends to mean little in the place of story advancement beyond "arc villain gets defeated" and then moving onto the next big bad. Plus, a lot of these shows pull from the source material, so they likely try to just get as many seasons and see what they can adapt before the plug is pulled. Sometimes they'll get lucky and manage to end on a high note, and other times they just end with an implied "the story goes on" kind of thing. Justice League Unlimited is a pretty interesting case since we know from talks with the writers that they had wanted to do at least one more season, but something tells me even if that were where it had then ended, we'd probably still get something along the same lines as the final episode we got with no true conclusion; just the indication that things are back to normal for the heroes and villains.
Tony you dumbass!

>>150649449So did the show come up with the idea of the Rescue armor and the comics adapted it back into themselves, or did the showrunners get told about Fraction's run planning to introduce it and happen to beat them to the punch? I'm assuming the former especially given it's a CGI cartoon vs comics, but nevertheless lol.
>>150633275Too bad the season 2 director downgraded modoc to being controlled with a fucking video game controller.>>150635956Whiplash's redesign was beast. Sucks it only appeared in two other works.
>>150649859>only two other worksHuh, which ones? Wait, you mean to tell any of these redesigns actually DID reappear outside the show?
>>150649865My bad. It was only one and that one was marvel's disk wars. I thought phineas and ferb used that design for some reason.
>>150631082Does anyone absolutely loved this show?
>>150649859Second season downgraded everything. You can just feel shift in style. Different humor, different focus on rings and guardians, attempt to make Rhodey funnier, making Pepper more generic quirky, no idea what to do with Gene....I feel more noticable is lack of structure for cast. Season 1 had plan for everyone. Season 2 is like "kill off Modok, bring back Laser for no reason, have Blizzard beaten in first 2 minutes of episode, stop using Unicorn and Shrike as duo etc"
>>150650571>>150650571Gene was a major example, he was one of the best parts of first season later writers just stailed any story with him.

>>150662309I'm honestly surprised Ironman Armoured Adventures never used him since he would perfectly fit into the show as a rival to Tony plus he was made only a year before the show released so he'd of been pretty relevant to adapt especially with how much presence Obadiah Stane has and be interesting to see how Zeke would interact with Whitney as his sister. It'd be really fun to see someone try doing his design in the armored suit and out of it for the shows art style.
>>150660439The DCAU couldn't exist in the current cartoon climate. They're 'too episodic' and 'don't have enough lore'.
>>150642255>successful and popular franchisebecause that always denotes good quality right? right?
Appreciation threads like these of old shows are heartwarming, I'll have to give this show a watch
>>150633812I think part of that is in the comics, Tony is constantly improving his armors and making new ones, so a lot of his villains can't keep up and get power creeped. You can't have them show up and be a believable threat to Iron Man when he already built specific countermeasures against them four armors ago.
>>150662985It's weird cause the comics did often have his villains get upgrades or even have the backing of guys like Hammer or Zeke Stane to where they could keep up with the advancements they provided. Even the show was smart by having villains not get left in the dust until the final season where they eventually gradually got killed off after that.
>>150659948Yeah, the model 1 was built while he was captive by the Vietnamese. They retconned it to [non-descript Asian country] in the 90's, and then of course to the Middle East in '05.
>>150660439Technovore was in one 2-issue story in 90's and then had cameo was captured by some guys in 2022.How the hell he keeps coming back in adaptations? He appeared in Iron Man AA, Avengers EMH, Marvel's Spider-Man, had cameo in Agents of SMASH and was villain of anime movie.
>>150662621Iron Man AA really did a great job showcasing his Rogues Gallery. The only ones that didnt show are other people's villains (Doc Ock, Ultron) derivatives (Stane's son, Hammer's daugher, Mandarin's son, like 5 Titanium Men and 20 Crimson Dynamos) and Spymaster who lets face is made completely redundant by Ghost.
>>150663074It's a really dope ass concept for a monster in the modern era to be fair, like Technovore gets more and more relevant as a threat with technology advancement and how it has become more pervasive in life.
>>150663084Though I wish his design was bulkier and he had the scarred face, I like how they had Basil Sandhurst/Controller be a part of A.I.M since it makes them feel more notable as an organisation by having members of note besides MODOC or the absent from the show Monica Rappacini. Also already mentioned how despite not being his utterly great comic version, still works superbly as the shows most competent villain who makes Tony look like a chump every fight they had. I think the only villain who's done poorly was Count Nefaria since he's just a chump that doesn't even get his flying brick powerset and loses his relation to Madame Masque to Stane.

>>150661806Did Hulk appear in the 90s Iron Man cartoon or was it the other way around?
>>150665627Not that guy, but I think he showed up at least once in both the Iron Man show and Fantastic Four, and the above mentioned X-Men (though only as a hologram). If I'm not mistaken, Hulk was the one who got the most crossover in that regard. Spidey and X-men had a multi-part crossover, and but I don't think Iron Man ever went appeared in any of the other shows, or the FF appearing in Spider-Man or X-Men, just offhand mentions of Thing at most.
>>150665381For example>Demolisher is a robotic suit piloted by a short-lived test tube grown creature, meant to act as a publicity "Villain" for Titanium Man to defeat>Overlord is Absynthe's improvement on the concept, thus making it an actual threat

The least realistic thing about this show is neither Stark or Rhodes wanting to be with Pepper. Bullshit. This girl does not get out of 9th grade without a boyfriend.
Weren’t she and Tony a thing at the end? Also Gene for a while

>>150631082>translating a lot of the adult Tony's character traits to a teenage environment pretty well.616 or MCU Tony?
I will probably read Iron Man alongside Cap when I get around to it. Does anybody have a good idea for how a cartoon would adapt the 80's Iron Man stuff? I recently saw a vid that went over the era and Denny O'Neil's runs which seemed really interesting. Especially Tony's...2nd addiction arc? I think that happens and it is even worse than Demon in a Bottle for Tony spiralling down. Also all of the side characters in Tony's company feels like unexplored ground. Stan always said that he wanted to challenge himself by getting people to like a military industrialist. Having Tony butt heads or work alongside middle managers, factory workers, and dealing with reorienting his entire business is interesting. Though that is a point I'm curious about...how was this done in the comics? Did he just pivot to tech and computers, keep making weapons, or something else? Was it ignored? Iron Man, Cap, and Nick Fury all get supporting cast members in their own niches but then all share the Avengers characters as well. I think modern Marvel struggles with that fact that some of these characters kinda rely on the interconnectedness.
>>150673447Yeah. O'Neil's depiction of alcoholism felt more intense, and supposedly he was pulling from his own experiences. It feels like that was the main story he wanted to tell with Iron Man with Rhodey's time as replacement shellhead was more a b-plot.Iron Man has some side characters for a while, but Micheline/Layton is where you really have consistent "normal" people in his cast. His pitch for what they would do instead of weapons was non-offensive things like cleaner energy, consumer goods, and a focus on the environment. Later ones add health/prosthetics research and such, so it can be lumped into "good guy sounding technology". The first depiction of difficulty was the board of directors in the 70s when he started pivoting away from weapons, but that story was not good at all. Outside of that, the closest was just a story that claims he is anti-American in the process to cause the workers to revolt, but that was foreign interference. You also things like what are blatantly repurposed weapons for a while. And then SHIELD buys up enough shares to take of SI not long after helping out against a hostile takeover since they expected he would return to weapons development for them, but everyone at SI quits in solidarity of Tony's vision. The answer is don't think about, it is a comic book about a guy who carries a suit of armor in an attaché case.

>>150673258No rush, take your time
>>150673760>don't think about itWell sometimes wondering who does in fact inflate the batmobile's tires is a worthwhile endeavor as it raises questions/ideas just like any other idea. Also Iron Man being around for so long just like other characters needs some exploration of ideas it has not covered before so having root in previous ideas is alright. Yes getting into anal detail is sometimes anathema to storytelling. But Iron Man's suit has been a core tech autism thing in the books and Marvel lore so extending that autism to Tony's business while trying to maintain a compelling narrative is kind of why people write superheroes in general. Superman had to have sci-fi concepts added to him to make him more interesting and last longer. Bizzarro being grey, rocky, and opposite from Superman on specific things isn't a commentary on Superman being an immigrant but just a fun sci-fi concept. That's a thing I don't want fleshed out. Or at least not in that direction. I mean fleshed out like in the process of getting goods shipped from Stark industries to some country, Iron Man has to intervene and then discovers that some of his workers are hostages and that some of his business decisions led to tech making Iron Man's ensuing fight easier or harder or is what got these workers in this mess. Stuff like that. Maybe Tony as a corporate boss who has to maintain a public image and also maintain distance from his own workers because he's a boss is what gets him down for an arc. I dunno more business stuff that colors how he then thinks in terms of his technological innovations and new directions that inform what Iron Man comics seem to have been.

>>150663984>A good number of times yes? Usually yes?nice joke anon
>>150674497You need to remember that most comic book writers don't have enough background in those subjects to adequately write those effectively.
>>150631082Cool. Where could I watch this?
Something I've been more discussion lately is the dynamic Iron Man had when he was still a secret identity.>Iron Man is the noble, idealized paragon Tony Stark presents and aspires to be>Tony Stark to the people is a controversial public figure who's met with both praise and scorn especially as a weapons manufacturer (contrary to modern retellings, even after becoming Iron Man it took Tony Stark gradual time to move away from weapons)>Tony Stark in reality is vulnerable and literally disabled but has to put on a persona to a public that either adores or despises himI know Armored Adventures had the secret identity going but do you think that dynamic could've worked with a younger Tony Stark?
>>150675682Netflix has it which is how I watched in full but might be on Disneyplus since that has the other Marvel cartoons on it also if you have that. Though if anyone has a Megaupload or whatever on it then this would be the thread to link it.
>>150675725*seeing more discussion
>>150674887Very nice stuff, I admire your multi-day dedication; One could even say you're quite peppy
>>150631082What so different about this Iron Man?
>>150675725Yeah those dynamics feeding each other sound promising for a younger show. Chronic problems for Tony’s civilian identity and physical vulnerability would add something to Armored Adventures as long as it isn’t reheated Spider-Man. A controversial public reputation sounds like the best add. If you did it today that would involve a social media element, change how his friendships develop as some of his reputation is earned and some comes from things outside his control like the villains, and maybe at that age he’d feel the pressure because his public actions have consequences for his inheritance. Also amps the personal stake in stories where he loses the suit or someone else is in it, could be a mid season catalyst to introduce the friend suits.
>>150675725That’s kinda what I did.
>>150676564He's a teen. That's it really, but it's really good, I swear
Why didn't this show make Iron Man mainstream like the movies did
>>150678144Because the movies already had, duh
>>150675223Then they should understand the economy and business they got into and try to find some way of improving their lot in life while maintaining the company long-term. That long-term maintenance isn't their job, it's management's job but the employees have to consider they must take risks and frame it another way so management understands the long-term threats to comics. If they did understand, then they would know that intentionally or unintentionally being apathetic towards comics and comic book stores doesn't reflect well on their competence and casts doubt on what they do next.To stay relevant you have to introduce more variety because humans want to be unsettled and gain interest in something. Thus, you would think writers would see the benefit of going outside what they know and then experiment with this new knowledge to write something good. But yes, comic book writers are morons. So we get stuck with apathetic losers.
>>150678144I mean, it did come out shortly after the first film (and pretty sure the second released during the show's run) and they clearly borrowed some aesthetic choices from the movie, down to even having Obadiah as the first major antagonist, even if he looked more like a twink Lex Luthor in this show
>>150671058The idea I went with is that the Iron Man armor isn't as advanced as it usually is. It's more like the MADOX
