ITT: Which canceled /co/ do you wish got purchased for a revival by Adult Swim?
>>150655288Ugly Americans
What was this show even about
>>150655500The CC show I mean. I think it would be a good fit for Adult Swim.
>>150655510>Code monkey like fritos
>>150655288They didn't finish the whole comic technically >>150655500Great choice.
>>150655288moonbeam city. it had a lot of potential.
>>150655510https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9UcZHgiOmSYH_0Vu1IhKxDDyfut7CZ60&si=w0jU1-uRaqvB8aMi
I may be cheating.
>>150655288None, all the revivals have never been worth it and none will be worth it in the future. Better to let the past go.
>>150655510The Office but Dwight and Jim were both assholes to everyonePam was an 8-bit slutAnd Michael was just... the same but with a Southern accent
>>150655288This could easily go several seasons and get a lot of rerun value out of it.
Not likely with the whole "boys club only" mentality that Lazzo brought to the block
>>150655288Would have been good if they picked it up just after it was cancelled Could have gone on till mid 2010's Also they should picked mission hill up for more
>>150655288I don't want a Code Monkeys revival but I do love it. Also the creator did a show for Adult Swim as well, pic related.>>150655510Show about making video games in an imagined version of the 1980s, had a lot of industry guest stars who were big at the time like Dave Jaffe, The Woz, and the guys from Red vs Blue.
>>150657763I think if Downtown or Mission Hill ended up going for 5-7 seasons they would not be nearly as fondly remembered, I think there is something you can't recreate from a piece of media that was killed before it could fully bloom.
>>150657703no "boys club" would ever think to greenlight something like this so there's a chance
>>150657796I disagreeBoth shows had potential to go on for longer without going zombie Simpsons or family guy levels of badEpisodes towards the end would be weak but overall the show would be remembered fondly I think them getting 5-7 seasons would be perfect for them as it's just enough
>>150657828I would prefer closer to 5 because I feel like with a show like Mission Hill for instance where it is about younger people largely, the premise begins run thin if your characters actually do begin to age. Certainly do not think anyone should try to reboot it now however, I believe its time has long come and gone, along with it would likely lose all aura in whatever digital hell it is animated in now. Not sure if the original had digital coloring or not, but I just can be pretty sure they will not be able to recreate the look or feeling of the original work if they attempted.
>>150657880Yeah neither should come back now but it would have been great if they had a revival during the 2000's
>>150655288DCSHG 2019.
>>150657901I have to imagine in the very early era of Adult Swim their were conversations about not just re-airing mission hill, but making more of it. I think the reality was it probably came down to simple budget and they picked Home Movies instead because after season one it moved from squigglevision to flash, just much cheaper to make than something like Mission Hill.I'm not complaining, I love Home Movies a tremendous amount, just figuring there were only so many resources to go around in that era for what they were putting on the adult swim comedy block.
>>150655804The art style is so good I wish it was used for something serious and not sitcom slop. Maybe it could’ve happened on late 90s mtv, but never now.
>>150655288They could have made bank
Seeing Hellboy get that third animated movie with Bruce Campbell as Lobster Johnson would be nice. Though I'm not sure if we're even getting Hellboy adaptations at all.
>>150655288Say what you will about it but I think this could still work with a more adult toneAlso we would have gotten actual lesbians sex
>>150658122>Though I'm not sure if we're even getting Hellboy adaptations at all.there was one last year, unless you meant *animated* hellboy adaptations
>>150655288Movie parodies can always be done
>>150656349We gotta celebrate our differences>CHING CHING CHING CHONG CHING, CHING CHING CHING CHING CHONG!>OOGA BOOGA DOO OOGA BOOGA DOH!>NACHO TACO, CHIMICHANGA!
>>150655288Assuming most of the talent came back then Megas XLR. No Goat though ;_;>>150658110>>150658166Both gone too soon. They could've and should've had a few more seasons.
>>150655288I actually liked the second season but I wish CN didn't pussy out on the third season.
>>150655288This one is just begging to come back and be able to show blood after punches
>>150658110One of best friends quoted that all the time and got me to watch it, still talk to him everyday. Fun show.
>>150658254We were lucky to get what we got but the fact concept art and some storyboards were made for a potential S3 make me very sad as they certainly had more story to tell. Cannot find it because I don't think the fan site that hosted it exists any longer.
There was a show on FXs ADHD thing that was an attempt at an Adult Swim competitor called Stone Quackers. It's one of my favorite cartoons ever.
Doug by Jim Jenkins
>>150658350This show was dumb, thanks alot for reminding me of its existence.
>>150658306Yeah I remember that site. I'm sure some place has it saved somewhere but me looking for it would only lead to sadness at what could've been.
>>150658145Fucking retarded
>>150657772 I think I saw like three or four episodes of this I think a lot of the guys are the exact opposite of how much of a stereotype they are between their superhero identity and their real life identity with the Mexican guy being a rich business man and the black guy being some sort of Professor in his civilian life while being obsessed with getting laid in his hero identity.
>>150655288Not a fan of code monkeys. It has 0 charm and 0 intelligent that sets it apart from any other garbage 5/10 sitcom comedy show. It has no progression, no interesting characters, no nothing.South Park, Camp WWE, Beavis & Butthead, Slacker Cats, are a million times better and Ed Edd Eddy are a billion times better.

>>150658110Which one of you is Dante? Which is Randal? Are you guys gay, or what?
>>150655510It was a adult comedy show about a game dev studio in the 1980s. It parodied the absurd things that would happen in the real life Atari Studio during the era. On top of a number of other things from the 80s. The characters were all stereotypes that only the 2000s could've gotten away with (the stoner, office slut, Texan billionaire, typical fat nerd, man hating feminist, etc) and it had a unique art style that really made it stand out.It was the greatest animated show ever made. It was too good for this sinful earth.
>>150658145>Also we would have gotten actual lesbians sexClose Enough didn't even get us tits drawn by JG Quintel, I don't think we'd get a topless Eda on Adult Swim
>>150659471I won't be mad it that's you Adam, but is that you? If so I loved "I'm with Busey".
I miss G4. Everyone shits on it for not being TechTV but it was fun in its own right.
>>150658145I thought Benson killed these characters. How could they do a revival?
>>150655288I really wish it was picked up by old adult swim and before nerd culture became mainstream
>>150655510Surface level video game references and stoner humor
>>150657815>make a show out of pandering to twitter normies>make it ugly>stick it on adult swim>watch in shock as it bombs completely
>>150658306>>150658505Hope you guys find it cause I’m actually interested
>>150660186That's funny I was just talking about I'm With Busey with my d&d group.
>>150655288Code monkeys couldn’t be revived. It was a product of its time, only mildly entertaining back then and nostalgic now. Let it be a thing that happened and nothing more. That said, I wish we could get better transfers. We’re stuck with either shitty TV rips or dvd rips that have weird flashing issues.
>>150657815>>150662597This show was overhated. It wasn’t nearly as bad as anons think. I feel like most people didn’t watch it and judged it based on its name and poster. It’s not a “yaaaas queen” show. It’s just kinda weird. The characters set out to kill mecha babies destroying the city, and date venemous rapping spiders they find in their apartment because they need a rebound and shit.
>>150658306Check the internet archive
>>150662810Art styles can really impact a show heavily. That show could be insanely funny and yet from the art style alone, I lost any interest in actually watching it.
>>150655288Watching Code Monkeys and Clerks I've realized that the Quirk Chungus meme existed back in the 2000s, except the characters would be two male buddies instead of a wife and husband. You have the straightman whose entire personality is that he's "normal" (uninteresting), and then you have the quirk chungus who gets to be le funny character who says all the rude and offensive stuff and gets into all the trouble that normal dude is trying to avoid. And the normal guy's one personality quirk will be that he is a manchild who still lives with his mom and can't get a girlfriend. The male equivalent of Quirk Chungus is usually not a virgin but he's fucked whores and / or trannies so it barely counts. He will also impede normal dude's attempts to get a promotion or get laid. It's almost like he exists to preserve the purity of the normal dude even though nobody cares about the normal dude's purity.
>>150655288There's no way that a show like Code Monkeys could be revived. It'd be neutered from the original style, and weaponized against gamers.
>>150662987Dante is by far the bigger piece of shit in Clerks and Clerks II, that's like the entire point of his character. Randall's an idiot but he knows he's a goofball idiot and made peace with it a long time ago, meanwhile Dante constantly believes he's above everyone around him and belittles them while he doesn't do shit to improve his lot in life
>>150655288Out there
>>150656349>HE-BRO!
>>150655288I liked the gay character in this show
>>150658254The problems it faced was that more Americans cared about it than Japanese which was why a second season was made at all, then not enough Americans cared about it. I think if it got a proper continuation, that would've changed
>>150663071Wasn't that addressed in the second movie as he oddly didn't learn his lesson in the first? I remember his defacto catch phrase was "I wasn't even supposed to be here" and Randell calling him out in the end for his sanctimony after the last time he said that
>>150655288I'll forever be pissed about this.
>>150655288God I love Code Monkeys.
>>150663184>Always bet on black...!
>>150657703Why Lazzo hated adult animated shows by women anyways? Imb4 one retard will reply "that's based actually" he greenlit the abomination of Mr. Pickles and The Jellies!
>>150663087A revival won't have Roiland involved tho
>>150655288>loved the show as a kid>revisit it later >it kind of sucks and is unfunny yeah no revival please
AS excs would tell Scully and Poehler to make the show more focused on Annie over Duncan
>>150662987Damn dude, sounds like you just found out about comedic duos with the straight man and the goofball that have existed FOR FUCKING CENTURIES.>getting a lot of "Boss Baby" vibes from this...
>>150664733It felt like Annie was always meant to be the main character but Duncan was theoretically more marketable to general audiences so he got the spot instead.
>>150664733>more of Annie and her big butt on screenSeconded.
>>150658110
>>150657828>>150657880I think that Undergrads was another show that similarly could have had a great run of just about 5 seasons to work out characterization and plot points before coming to a satisfying "end of youth, transition to full adulthood" ending.I have to say that rewatching any of these gives me a nauseous sort of nostalgia for what it was like to be a young adult before anyone had smartphones. Like in Mission Hill whenever they say "I'm bored, let's go out and get wasted" before crashing some house party or whatever makes me think that the recent past of the 90s/2000s is as alien to today than the fucking wild west is.
