Which comics are you guys reading right now?
>>150658484Getting around to Tomasi's superman. I rather like it though I wasn't around when Rebirth happened so it's some getting used to.
>>150658484I just finished Get Fury, which I loved. Probably going to read James Bond 007: Your Cold Cold Heart next then onto TDKR or Miller Daredevil. Marshal Law is a great pick
Roy Thomas and Dick Giordano's version of Dracula. Also released by Marvel as "Stoker's Dracula".So far it seems like a solid enough adaptation of the book. I think the first chapter got me a little worried that it'd literally just be book quotes laid over comic art, but I feel like it's shaking that off the further I get in. The coloring job feels pretty damn good for a comic that was drawn and inked in the 70's, 30 years prior.I wish the Bram Stoker's Dracula comic would get a reprint. Not really a fan of the movie as an adaptation but I'd like to see Mignola's art.
>>150658484I feel like Takes Manhattan, Kingdom of the Blind and Fear and Loathing were the strongest Marshal Law stories
>>150658970Kingdom of the Blind is insanely good, I remember being in high school and losing my mind when the origin twist was revealed
>>150658484Moon Knight V1Batman Beyond animated series. I just finished Brandon Graham binge. I really, really liked Rain Like Hammers.Thinking about reading Kirby’s Black Panther
Ed Hannigan's Defenders. It’s not very good. Gerber was much better. Hannigan’s writing makes everyone sound the same, and his plots aren’t very interesting. I’m hoping it gets a little better later on, or that he leaves sooner rather than later.
>>150658484I'm midway through a binge of the Dixon/Grayson Nightwing run. Almost at Blockbuster's death. I hated this when it came out, but it's a fun ride when you're reading it collected.
Trying to read Bisley and Eastman's Bodycount. But besides having to do real-life stuff, I get distracted by other things like video games and my Regular Show marathon. Both of which I shouldn't even be doing because of real life. I don't know how anons manage to balance real life with hobbies.
DC Finest: Superboy: The Superdog from KryptonDC Comics Presents (1978-1986)
>>150659109David Anthony Kraft takes over at issue 46. Shit gets really fucking weird. I was very entertained, but I’m not sure it’s for everyone. You also get Kieth Giffen aping Kirby at that point. Pic related
>>150658484Nothing
Gotham City Sirens
>>150658484Bit of everything. I'm nearly a year behind on current comics and just going through my collection weeklies. Just started December 2024 comics.
>>150659293I know, I’ve already read it. That wasn’t half-bad. Much better than Hannigan’s crap atm. I’m currently around issue #82, and the man is somehow managing to write Namor poorly. NAMOR. The asshole with like one ironclad motivation and a big ego. At least the art is okay, I guess. Tunnelworld looks kind of cool.
>>150659293I like this art.
>>150658484Yesterday I finally read X-Men Grand Design (RIP Ed) and it got me to dig out my X-Men Milestone tpb for Mutant Massacre, so I'm reading that now.
Always meant to read the Byrne superman stuff Finally getting around to it
>>150661990I myself am in the pro Super Byrne camp. It was where I started reading comics so I didn't have much connection to the stuff that got excised from the mythos yet.
Almost finished the first Omni of Conan and I'm working on the third Palomar love and rockets collection.
>>150662181>first Omni of ConanSavage Sword or Barbarian.
>>150658484Re-reading Providence. Still a masterpiece.
>>150658484I'm glad I finally gave this a chance. It's better than I expected.
>>150661990>>150662016Recently read the first twenty or so issues for the first time and loved it. Fantastic art and paneling. Definitely deserves the praise it gets>>150662217Very nice
>>150662217Barbarian. I want to get 'em all at some point.I just finished the Red Sonja arc.
>>150662351Nice. >>150662314It's terrific. Wait till you manage to sit in on an annual story time.
>>150658484Miller's Daredevil. It's pretty good and I don't know what made him decide to forget how to draw
>>150662425Impaired motor function.
>>150658484My current stack. In the middle of the DC horror one atm
>>150659293Ah yes, back when the powercreeping wasn't setting in.
>>150658484The Goon (the recent series from 2019)and the Immortal Hulk.
>>150662016he is not human, tho.he is an ilegal alien, ice will deport him
>>150658484Those superheroes are menace!
Comics.
>>150663338>he is an ilegal alienHe was taken in and adopted as a baby. There's laws specifically about that that make him legal.>ice will deport himShe's not American and crushes on him
Legends issues from byrne' superman.
It was rather good
>>150664815Nice joke.
Going back through Gen X. I have fond memories of a lot of the earlier issues but after around the first 30 issues I completely forgot everything that happened
>>150662480My condolences.
>>150662480God I hope they continue JLI in paper back form
>>150658484Thats so crazy anon because I was thinking yesterday how Ive yet to see a Marshal Law mention on here. I remember reading that when I was younger. Crazy book
My MM&O shipment from fantagraphics came in recently so I've been re-reading that. Eventually I will get Fritz sent to me as well.
>>150667859I decided to reread it, since last time I only read the original six issues.
>>150662219I still gotta read that shit
>>150662219I normally hate>but the fishmen were le good you were just racistBut it's Moore so it'll probably be done better than most
>>150663338Doesn't the Byrne version have Superman inside an artificial womb so he's "born" on Earth?
>>150670674He had some weird stuff, yeah.
>>150670627>the fishmen were le good you were just racisthow retarded do you have to be in order to arrive at this conclusion after reading Providence? don't answer that, thirdie, it's a rhetorical question.
>>150671627No I mean a lot of Lovecraft deconstructions are about that, which is why I generally steer clear of them. I was saying I trust Moore not to make slop like that so I'd give it a try. If anyone can look at Lovecraft critically but still lovingly its him
>>150658484I haven't done any independent reading this week>FracBat 2 was cringe and I dropped it>Age of Revelation is mid, disappointed they set up such an obvious and low-stakes way to resolve the bad future>Current Spider-man is not bad, but for how long?>Dropped New Avengers, it just isn't good>waiting for next issue of Cap (it's a pretty sensible take)>Battleworld was okay
>>150671756White Heron spinoff of Spinerette. I actually quite like it. Like the focus on a militar team and their super hero. The super hero has powers, but is neither all-skilled nor all-knowledgeable, so they complement her in a nice way. And i like the Korean war backdrop. It's pretty cool. Is the main Spinerette comic worth reading?
>>150671825Didn't mean to reply to you anon, sorry.
>>150671825>>150671835>SpineretteMan, it's been so long since I've though about that
>>150671756>>Age of Revelation is midThat's honestly way better than I would have expected it to be. This thing had "We ran out of ideas" printed all over it.
I got that Silver Age Spectre DC Finest and have been flipping through it. The first stories are bizarre magic shit, not the ironic punishment I was expecting.I also thought Jim Aparo drew way more than he did
>>150658484What is his deal?
>>150673564He hunts heroes, he hasn't found any yet
>>150673564Typical brit writer shit.
>>150673596This
>>150673564Basically you read that and you realize how much Ennis lifted for "The Boys"
Just picked up the latest couple issues of Moon Knight Fist of Khonshu
>>150675183It's different.
>>150664815>She's not American and crushes on himkeksupes is a glorified space mexican tho
>>150660505The Dini one?
>>150658484What kind of comics are we reading right now?
>>150671636He kinda learned to love Lovecraft between Neonomicon and Providence.
I started The Elementals. Kinda meh so far.
>>150671756>FracBatDo not.
Read.
Rereading ASM
>>150679405I finished the first arc. I don't like it. Willingham draws kinda like Alan Davis, though not as good. He doesn't have a very good handle on narrative flow and pacing, and the characters are still pretty flimsy. I may just drop it at this point.
>>150677661Who's "we"?
>>150658484Nothing right now.
>>150680538make me
As one of the few people who liked Batman: Odyssey, I'm about to finally get around to Coming of the Supermen by Neal Adams.
>>150673680Yeah, and it's great.
>>150680538No
>>150682926Do you like it ironically?
>>150658970Those are the first three, right?
>>150659109I really should get on Gerber's Defenders. Any required reading to enhance the experience?
>>150680768>>150679405I’m old af and it seemed really revolutionary and cool at the time.I picked up a run on eBay, and, although it’s not really bad, it has aged poorly. I just read a bunch of the different Moon Knight series. Nothing, not even Ellis, compares to volume one.
>>150686612I think most of the stuff leading up to Gerber is pretty good. Roy Thomas even did well with them. They start in Marvel Premiere #1 and continue on in that title for a few issues before getting their own book.
>>150686612Pretty much all of the Giant-Size Defenders stuff is good, and I think only the first *isn’t* written by Gerber? Correct me if I’m wrong.Really, though, just start with Gerber’s first few volumes (I think he starts writing somewhere around issues 11-14?) and go from there. It’s all pretty good.Seconding this >>150686856 but it’s worth noting that the Premiere stuff is somewhat adjacent. Gerber’s cast is missing half of the original’s and the dynamic of the remaining two members changes significantly during Gerber.
>>150658484
>>150675782He really isnt.
>>150686856>>150687174Thanks.
>>150686781What got me was how often reviews bring up Watchmen, for the fact that Elementals is slightly dark and came out before, completely ignoring Moore's Marvelman and Captain Britain that came out two years before this, of course. Comic sites have done the same thing with Squadron Supreme. I was pretty excited despite this dishonesty, but I'm finding it pretty crap. I loved Mage from Comico, so I'm a bit disappointed.
>>150686367Yes
>>150682926I loved both volumes two, neal adams is a sueprclass.Coming of supermen is kino too.
>>150659293>Hulk isn't a fan of Moon Man
>>150658484I don't read
>>150658484Comics we are reading now.
>>150691274Ironically?
>>150692681What is this post?
>>150687304Those recolors kinda killed it for me.
>>150691871Better start
>>150658484Ditko Spider-Man
>>150658484i have atleast a meter high stack of soft covers and hardcovers with pretty cherry picked stuff i havent read
>>150658484I think I might re-read Squadron Supreme then read Supreme Power.
>>150694470Same, actually.
>>150694854You're a ripoff
I've been reading post-crisis Superman and I'm just getting into Ordway and Stern. This shit is awesome. The guilt of executing the Kryptonian criminals and Brainiac getting in his head have turned Superman into a nutcase. The Supergirl Saga itself was not very good, but it led to some great comics.
>>150687304The Rocketeer is almost the perfect comic book. A great series that didn't overstay its welcome, a godlike movie adaptation, and some solid modern standalone stories if you want them.
>>150695382The Exile stuff is really fun.
>>150695426I can't agree. It's not very good and kind of goes nowhere. The art is good, but not with those recolors.
The Shadowpact baby!
>>150671636>uhhh muh decuntrukton!!!hey, shitass, if you think Providence is a deconstruction then you don't know the meaning of the word.
