I've heard plenty of bad things about it but, I dunno, it looks kinda cute. Is it worth a watch, like at all?

There's a pretty strong and steady decline in the quality of both the writing and the animation from season 3 onwards, and nothing that follows ever tops the season 1 finale. No questions get answered and no resolutions are satisfying, so if you choose to keep watching then be aware of that.I would also recommend watching the movie, if only for Spinel. She's great and her song is the shit.
Whatever you do, do not watch Future, it's a piece of shit that ruins everything that happened in the show

>>150660671It starts weak, stays weak, and then collapses several times. Theres one or two good songs so you might enjoy that, but its not good and its not rewatchable. I got through it because i had hope it would get good eventually. Knowing that it only shits the bed might make it unbearable for you, or it might not.
It starts out okay and gradually gets worse. I imagine it's much easier to tell the decline when you aren't waiting months inbetween episodes like we were. But it's not all bad. I like the Gems and how they interact with each other, they're definitely the highlight of the show.

It peaks in S1 though even that has some stinkers. After that it begins to rapidly decline.

>>150660671Idk, it's hard to recommend. Season 1 is the best. It gradually falls off after that. I didn't really give a shit by season 4 but kept watching out of habit. The movie sucks and I have no idea why people like it so much. Future was surprisingly good, don't listen to the haters. I'd say give it a go if you're curious, just keep in mind it loses momentum about halfway through. Then again it's been so long since I've seen it, and maybe it holds up better binging it.

The show does have writers but they mostly write the dialog.Also the show tends to go off model at times. This was actually Sugar's idea. It allowed the storyboarders to express their creativity. However, this lead to an incident with certain storyboarder and the Koreans who subtracted the animation to ask "you want us to animate this?"
