why were animated movies so average in 2006nothing really terribly bad but not many masterpieces. happy feet, cars, over the hedge made a good amount of money but it felt pretty lowest common denominator
>>150662823It was a good year compared to 2013
>>150663923Not really
>>150663923mid year vs shit year
>>150662823What was even the best year for animated movies?
>>150662823Cars and Over the Hedge are kino you philistine.
>>150662823Over The Hedge was great. Shame they never did a sequel.
>written by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab (plus a writer from Corpse Bride)This movie is kino
>>150664793Every year has like a couple good ones and then a bunch of straight to video shit.
2006 gave us Arthur and the Minimoys
>>150665321Well, let's not hold that against them
>>150662823Cars, Over the Hedge and Happy Feet were great movies, you fucking faggot.
Very amusing
>>150664896>>150665376I liked Over the Hedge, never got into the premise of Cars.
>>150665385This alone carries the whole year worth of releases
>>150665385>>150665418
>I wanna turn the whole thing upside down>I'll find the things they say just can't be found>I'll share this love I find with everyone>We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's songs>I don't want this feeling to go away
>>150665376Over the Hedge steals their climax from fucking Futurama and Cars was Pixar at their most cynical (the reason why the message is teamwork is because the movie was made when Pixar was fitting to leave Disney afterwards due to Michael Eisner being strange with the change and they wanted a message that Disney would be nothing without the actual makers. Same as the cartoon before it with the little girl with a coin having 2 one man bands vie for her money. When the coin is lost, she takes a violin and makes her own money. That was Disney and DreamWorks vying for Pixar and Pixar saying they don't need either and will make their own money. Then the next short was a rabbit humiliating a magician who looks suspiciously like Walt Disney until the rabbit is fed and ends up getting billed on the show bills. If you don't get that is about the turmoil, I don't know what to tell you.) I get that kids liked Cars 20 years ago but if you like Cars and you don't have nostalgia googles, you just like shitty movies.
Pretty interesting
>>150665385I couldn't watch this. It doesn't feel finished.
>>150665292>Dan Harmon That explains why the characters critique the plot as they are living it. How did one guy build such a fanbase over hating his own writing?
>>150665517It's a very low-budget movie
I think it's great. Pixar returned to its roots (after going in a different direction with The Incredibles) while also including a bit of DreamWorks attitude
>>150665517You weren't finished.
>>150665580It's also a pretty nice 20th anniversary movie
This is a bad comedy movie, but that isn't surprising. It was directed and written by Steve Oedekerk (Ace Ventura 2, Nothing to Lose, Patch Adams, Kung Pow! Enter the Fist)
>>150665843TV show that premiered 1 year later is much better/funnier, but that's because it had different writers
>>150662823Paprika was good, but its not /co/.
Isn't 2006 kinda when everything was going tits up at Disney with Eisner fighting with the Disney family?
