Why was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the most popular show on Fox Kids when Animaniacs premiered right around the same time and is considered a far better show than Power Rangers? Animaniacs was still one of Fox Kids' most popular shows, but Power Rangers beat it for whatever reason
>>150675188>Why was a live action show about space ninjas who fight with big robot dinosaurs which you could buy and play with more popular than an animated attempt to modernize 30's era WB cartoons centered around satire and political humor?Hm.
>why was a toy commercial aimed at kids more popular than a show full of pop culture references that kids didn't get?
Animaniacs was either second or third (I would say second since sources say so, but X-Men beat it during Fox Kids TV Takeover 93 and 94, so i'm not sure). It just couldn't beat the Power Rangers
>Why was thing that appeals to kids more than adults popular than thing that was less appealing to kids in favor of adults
Also, how did Power Rangers manage to be bigger with kids than X-Men and Batman? I don't get it, because X-Men and Batman were also better than Power Rangers (though X-Men did feel like the second most popular, with Animaniacs being third. Goosebumps and Spider-Man didn't come until later)
>>150675188Cast your mind back to the 90’s and ask your classmates on the bus and playground these 2 questions.“Did you catch the latest Power Rangers?”“Did you catch the latest Goodfeathers?”What the hell do you think they said yes to?
>>150675501To be fair, a lot of Animaniacs fans don't even care for Goodfeathers. It's mainly Warners, Pinky and the Brain, and Slappy
>>1506755373 segments out of 10 isn’t a good ratio.
>throw in a bunch of pop culture references that only adults would get>wonder why they have an obnoxious adult fanbasereally, Animaniacs?
>>150675188Because kids love superheroes, kids also love giant animal robots that transform and combine into a bigger robot that kills giant evil ass monsters, the introduction of Power Rangers was like seeing the CIA introducing crack into a poor black neighborhood
>>150675188To think WB thought Animaniacs was big enough to carry Kids WB when it launched in 1995. But instead, it got worse ratings than it did on Fox Kids.
>>150675188Animaniacs wasn't on Fox Kids.
>>150675752It was on Fox Kids during the first two years. Kids WB didn't exist until 1995https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCUOzlbBMHg
>>150675688https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyiU0ri5298&t=110sKids WB in general failed until Pokemon came to Kids WB (and Batman Beyond as well). Men in Black: The Series didn't even become successful until Pokemon and Batman Beyond helped it in the ratings
>>150675798Didn't help that the Animaniacs seasons during Kids WB were inferior to the Fox Kids era.
>>150675188https://kidscreen.com/1996/11/01/17359-19961101/I found the reason why Animaniacs left Fox Kids. Apparently it was because Fox Kids already had other commitments. They couldn't take Power Rangers off of weekdays, Batman and Taz-Mania were contractually obligated to run for 5 years each, and they had already promised to air X-Men every weekday in 1995. They tried to compromise with Warner by airing Animaniacs for an hour on saturdays in the 1995-1996 season and then put it back on weekdays the next year, but WB said no to that
>famicom thread
>>150675823I don't even like the Nintendo Entertainment System/Famicom that much
>>150675188Was there a reason why kids preferred Rugrats to Rocko's Modern Life? Sure, Rocko performed well in the ratings, but Rugrats was a much bigger hit with all the merch and movies
