what's the deal between red shirt shaggy and green shirt shaggy? I have heard people keep saying they are not the same character and live in different universes and such. does this have an actual reason or were the animators just told not to use green shirt shaggy for legal reasons or continuity?
Red shirt Shaggy is an evil version that raped and killed Daphne and Velma and Scrappy
It's the Bigger Luke Theory of cartoons. Once you go down this rabbit hole there's no climbing back out.
>>150678195Red shirt was for some of the early "movies." That's all. People compare it to Lupin III changing his shirts.
>>150678195Green shirt Shaggy is when he's with the whole gang. Red shirt is for everything else.
>>150678216Does that really sound more plausible than "he has two shirts"?
>>150678195Green Shirt Shaggy is the more common appearance, and in those appearances, the monsters are typically fake. Red Shirt Shaggy appears in some movies and specials, and in those appearances, the monsters are typically real. Red Shirt Shaggy also has Scrappy. It's probably not intentional, but it roughly tracks there being two loose continuities. Apocryphal lore is that the origin of Red Shirt Shaggy is that some executive responsible for approving character designs was red-green color blind, and a miscolor was approved and not caught until it would be impractical to redo it.
>>150678195I'm surprised more people are into Shaggy/Daphne since they were the endgame in the 80s.
in the color wheel red and green are direct opposites, they can't mix
>>150678195Red Shaggy appears in the tournament of power since EL GRANDE PADRE brought him to keep God Shaggy distracted, so he would not interfere in his fight with Gohan Blancohttps://youtu.be/WlMZNo_pV6M?si=5dZJhu1SRVYkugBh
>>150678195the overall scooby doo franchise was always a bit weird with its continuity. In the earliest scooby doo entries there was no paranormal stuff, it was all people in disguise. Shortly after that they introduced actual supernatural stuff like ghosts, witches and demons. The detective angle disappeared and the shows became a bit more generic action-oriented. Long time after that we got a bit of a scooby renaissance and they honed in on the original concept of there being no supernatural stuff, only people in disguise, pretending this middle era never happened. During this middle era Shaggy tended to wear a red shirt instead of a green one, so that design has kind of become a symbol of that lost era.
>>150678327If you look at the screen in front of you right now, red and green mix to produce yellow.
>>150678339That meme got old like 10 years ago anon
>>150678195Shaggy was in a Lupin phase at the time.
>>150678352I'm not talking of colors/pigments, I'm talking about universes, R-shaggy and G-shaggy can't live in the same universe.
>>150678195Red Shirt Shaggy is Shaggy later on in the series but the movie had him be used to represent early Shaggy probably to distinguish him from the main Shaggy like how they gave Scooby a red collar despite him never having one
>>150678364You say that because you lack ESENCIA
>>150678230>>150678374Funnily enough in that recent thread about the lost 6th member of the gang, someone incidentally colored him in like red jacket Lupin and it caused some discussion about how a crossover would work weirdly well. Lupin already deals with haunted shit on occasion and some of the most famous stuff from the series involves attempts at money laundering similar to what the gang's sometimes encountered.

>>150678378You will never touch Royalty with that attitude.
>>150678351in addition to that, they removed characters from the group and added new ones, meaning they also played around with the inner dynamic a bit. Daphne became smarter and the leader of the group to make up for the lack of Velma, and Shaggy became a bit more of an action-lead to make up for the lack of Fred, further fueling the fan-idea that this version of the group is not in continuity with the old show
>>150678395Monkey Punch would've loved a HB collab since he was a fan of their works for the longest time.
Every Shaggy is just an appendage of the True Shaggy. Choice in shirts is the only autonomy they're given; they are fully subservient to the True Shaggy.
>>150678395>>150678488Lupin III would work so well with Scooby Doo that it is insane it has never happened.
>>150678230>>150678374>>150678395
>>150678458They was fucking
>>150678488>>150678533Now I really fucking want this, God damn.
>>150678533I honest to god didn't notica Goemon on the left until I read the final line and went huh
>>150678594He was always my favorite in the gang. I loved it when Fred said "Let's split up gang" and Goemon was always like "I'll split them in two with my katana".
>>150678395Augie Anderson from Funky Phantom, who was very likely Mike's reincarnation, had a whole red theme going on. Imagine Lupin and the gang winding up in that show or doing a grand tour of all the HB detective shows and their nonsense.
>>150678516Some madman out there needs to develop a pitch and see if they could get Monkey Punch's estate and Warner aboard.
>>150678222The what? Bigger Luke what the fuck is that
>>150678795Oh anon, you have no idea what you're getting into.http://biggerluke.wikidot.com/bigger-luke
>>150678374We need a Blue Shirt and Pink Shirt Shaggy now too
>>150678195Green Shirt Shaggy hooks up with Velma while Red Shirt Shaggy hooks up with Daphne
>>150679603Blue already exists.
>>150678216You're confusing Red Shirt Shaggy with Blood Shirt Shaggy, there's a difference in those red tones
>>150679740Then Pink Shirt Shaggy goes for Fred
Echo Fighter Shaggy
>>150678795he's similar to proboscis luke
>>150680117Any relation to Luuke?
