Did anyone unironically like Doug?
>>
>>150680415
There's some legit fun episodes
>>
>>150680415
Most people did, it was a pretty popular show. If you watch it in order Doug actually has genuine character progression too, he goes from being timid and afraid of new things to actively getting other kids to go along with him, and by the series finale he even sees Roger as a friend. The Doug hate only happened years later, I think it's because a lot of later shows inspired by Doug did the basic premise better.

>>
>>150680460
It's a little dull and mundane. All the wacky stuff only happens in Doug's imagination, while the actual plot is just Doug facing a minor or imagined problem with a mild solution.

I think it benefited from being novel at the time. It's a slice-of-life sitcom instead of a wacky Loony Tunes wannabe.
>>
>>150680495
That looks very expensive.
>>
>>150680415
Yeah I watched it as a kid in its prime, but also noticed when it switched to Disney that the quality went to ass along with the charm. Loved the goofy ass music, lives in my head rent free.
>>
>>150680476
I still quote "Very, expensive" to this day whenever coming across something I think is too expensive.
>>
>>150680415
I did, at least the Nick version. It wasn't like a laugh out loud show or anything, but it was comfy and fun. I still like it.
>>150680460
Yeah, the show was generally well-liked by kids who grew up when it was new.
>>
>>150680476
Honestly wished I had a cool neighbor like that because it's not like my dad wanted to talk to me.
>>
>>150680415
If you were alive while it was airing you probably watched it and remember a lot of episodes. Like >>150680460 said people didn't start to look down on it until later.
>>
It's weird how lame Doug is as a protagonist, he doesn't have charisma, powers or intelligence, he's just a massive sperg who suffers from weird delusions and dresses as a superhero in his underwear
>>
I watched this as a kid (I am old and close to death) and one thing I still remember is the episode about Doug getting scammed by a legal but shady puzzle sweepstakes.

>>150680690
Filmore and Recess as Douglikes are dubious; the straight-faced cop-show parody of Filmore puts it too far away from the down-to-earth nature of Doug (outside Doug's imagination) and the absurdism of Recess does the same (taking elementary school social hierarchies 100% seriously)

Also, Doug IS in elementary school; the graduation finale of the original Nick series is about Doug's anxiety over starting JUNIOR high school.

You know they say that all men are created equal, but you look at me and you look at Skunky Beaumont and you can see that statement is not true. See, normally if you go one on one with another wrestler, you got a 50/50 chance of winning. But I'm a genetic freak and I'm not normal! So you got a 25%, AT BEST, at beat me. Then you add Roger Klotz to the mix, your chances of winning drastic go down. See the 3 way at Honkerburger, you got a 33 1/3 chance of winning, but I, I got a 66 and 2/3 chance of winning, because Roger Klotz KNOWS he can't beat me and he's not even gonna try!
So Skunky Beaumont, you take your 33 1/3 chance, minus my 25% chance and you got an 8 1/3 chance of winning at Honkerburger. But then you take my 75% chance of winning, if we was to go one on one, and then add 66 2/3 per cents, I got 141 2/3 chance of winning at Hinkerburger. See Skunky, the numbers don't lie, and they spell disaster for you at Honkerburger.

See, but I'm gonna break it down for all you Patties. Would you rather be with me? Or would you rather be with Skunky?

I kind of figured that.
It just sounded funny in my mind.
But also, I think there's a little something to it.
Like, if you really look at it, Mr. Dink was always trying to get the hottest shit. But, he always fell on his face over it, because they didn't really work or something goes wrong.
But, Dinkleberg has everything going for him. Everything he has is working for him.

I'm convinced zoomers don't get Doug because they have no imagination and can't grasp the concept of being a kid and putting yourself in heroic situations. They need to be spoonfed.
>>
>>150694649
Doug's arguably superior in the respect that it could theoretically happen. He's already shown himself to be able to pack on a considerable, visible amount of weight in just a single week, while Patti's all about the athletics. And also the obvious fact that anything in the Nick seasons is inherently superior to anything in the Disney seasons, but we all know that.

He punched Bemba. Doug has been shown to be stronger than he seems.

It was really popular for people to do that "Nostalgia Critic" thing where they obnoxiously overanalyze every single thing that happens in the cartoon in order to make it sound stupid. But if you actually just sit down and watch it, it's a regular cartoon.

Doug actually had some really great music. I can't believe this song was actually written for the show, it's great and feels like it could have been an actual hit in the 70s or 80s.

>>
>>150697152
Life with Louie was one of the few shows I have memories of my Dad sitting down to watch with me and loving it because it reminded him of his childhood and Dad. It's a really good memory I hold onto these days as we don't talk as much as we should now.

Honestly if you grew up in the midwest there's a lot you can get out of the show, was a bit different from a lot of the other shows that aired on Saturday mornings.

>>150697248
Doug has a great soundtrack, this song specifically while goofy, has the endearing quality you see in wii menu music.

Silt.

>>150697428
The last comic you quoted is the original. It became a meme to draw it in various art styles for a while because the internet in the late 00s was a very different place.
>>
>>150697428
It's based on an episode where Doug has to write a report on silt but is distracted by a video game he won in a contest. He thinks he wasted the whole weekend and his life will be ruined but it turns out he lost track of time so badly he actually had an entire day left to write the report.
