He heard the actors say funny shit, and then animates around it.The bit was already funny, and it'd still be funny no matter who animated the segment.

And it's very complicated to criticize his work without bringing him down. I didn't like that pilot, but a few of the episodes have been entertaining to watch. I don't mind that his content isn't hilarious or nonstop lol, but just that his characters are slow and meandering and his style doesn't really lend itself to make that interesting to watch or let alone endearing. He gets all these VAs to just voice these lines he wrote but he has to remember that these are now characters in his show, and not celebrities who are saying funny shit out of context. They're not allowed to adlib and he equally isn't directing them to do much with the character they're supposed to be.Maybe smaller segments with just the two leads would make the longer episodes more meaningful. I know Zeurel wants to be impressive and ambitious, but I think he's really gotta lean into being economical for whatever his next project is. He's kind of in a tough spot where if he downgrades in any way right now, it will be immediately noticed.
