An interesting theme of Danny's character they were on and off again about exploring was how out of place he felt, both as a human and as a ghost. I think that would come across all the stronger if he didn't have close friends from the get-go, giving more time to flesh out the relationship he has with his family, and eventually with Dani who he has to help get through a similar identity crisis.

Is it for dead people, bad energy, something else? You have ember and the box ghost which were once humans, then creatures that are more like the personification of an idea or concept.

Both Danny and Dani are unaware of her having powers. Dani also ha no idea Danny is the ghost boy. Make it a plot point that Vlad sees the power in this ghost gremlin and he kidnappers her only to find out she’s Maddies kid. Have him take her in as a Dark apprentice after staging and gas lighting Danny hurting her and him Vlad “Saving her” slash making her sentient aware with her powers, this way you can build up the drama. And that’s like 3 seasons worth of stakes right there.
