What do you think of Ram V's work?I hear he is very acclaimed and has won Eisners.
>>150700354Genuinely terrible. Not as bad as king or zdarsky were on Batman but not much better. It might as well have been about a bunch of OC’s, it was yet another A SECRET GROUP HAS BEEN IN CONTROL OF EVERYTHING ALL ALONG plot, and it was 20 issues too long, each of the issues being unfulfilling and crappy. Which seems to be excusable these days (Not that I agree) if it pays off in the end, which it didn’t. The only good thing about it was the covers. Everything inside them was awful.
>>150700397Whay about.Laila V and New Gods.
>>150700354He has some glorious headshots, but the comics I've read by him are forgettable.
>>150700354I like his New Gods and Swamp Thing
>>150700354Do Eisners even matter anymore?
>>150702403They never did.
>>150702403No
>>150700354I like his non-Batman work but his Tec genuinely stank. Only brown people and gays liked it.
>>150700397>>150704686How much is that is on Ram and how much of that is on Batman editors for dictating a certain kind of story?
>>150700510New gods has been terrible. What a dopey question
>>150705365Editors do precisely nothing these days otherwise they would have told him “this doesnt need to take 2 years to tell”. so no, it’s completely on him.
Blue in Green, Rare Flavours, Laila Starr and These Savage Shores are good.I've yet to read Grafity's Wall.
>>150706229I liked Rare Flavours a lot, it was a cool book
>>150705365It's all Ram V, the style and aesthetic of his Tec is very much its own thing
>>150700354Resurrection Man felt like something I SHOULD really like but something about it didn't quite hit the mark for me and I'm not sure what it was.
>>150700354Interesting stories with boring execution
>>150700354His original works are alright, but his cape work has been pretty eh despite them getting glazed on twitter>>150705365Editors don't do anything these days outside of random shit to annoy writers, like how Spurrier left from making back-up stories during this run because they didn't properly coordinate with how they would fit with the main plot or Tynion's run on Batman focused more on OCs because he had more creative freedom with themTec's biggest problem is that it's basically 20 issues of build-up for 9 issues of pay-off, a lot of characters used in the run get sidelined in the end, it was a nightmare to follow batbooks during this time since readers had no idea of when they each took place and the art is extremely inconsistent because both main artists of the run leave during Act I
>>150700354I thought that was John Romero for a second, I thought you were going to tell me a Romero games Batman was in the works.I have no significant thoughts about Ram V.
