Never read the Punisher comics before, stuck to DC since before the awokening of 2017-present. Is he still based or did they make him gay and woke too? Where should I start for the most based arcs?

Read Dixon, Grant, Baron, and Ennis. I'd say start with Ennis honestly, it's my favorite run of the character. Read Punisher MAX first, then Ennis Marvel Knights Punisher run, then Dixon's War Zone.
