Easily one of the worst DreamWorks movies. Hard to say what's worse: Patrick Gilmore's direction or John Logan's writing
>>
>"our film is galaxies away from Treasure Planet"
Whatever you say, Katzenberg

its fun, better than a few other films in the companies library.

again?

John Logan was a hack writer in the early 2000s, as proven by Sinbad and pic related
>>
Eris was super hot and the rest doesn't matter, so pretry solid.

>"but didn't he also write Gladiator?"
He wasn't the only writer
>>
>"Sinbad hedges its bets every step of the way. It's too afraid to try anything outside of the time-tested kid movie formula. None of the cast particularly fits their roles, save Michelle Pfieffer, who has a lot of fun cooing along with her liquid-haired villainess. The mix of boxy hand-drawn animation and slapdash CGI doesn't quite mesh, and the screenplay is another clunker from one of the worst current living film writers, John Logan (Bats, Gladiator, The Time Machine, Star Trek Nemesis)"
2003 critics weren't kind

when you see the backstages interviews you really hate brad pitty

But were they wrong?
>>
>a character named Proteus
>a character named Dymas
>Sinbad' ship is called Chimera
>Syracuse
>Eris
>Tartarus
>Cetus
>Sirens
>Aspidochelone
>Hydra, Cyclops and Minotaur are mentioned

Weird choice to use all those Greek elements

The only Arab element in the movie is that Roc

Idc I like it

Becuase it's inspired by the Sinbad movies of Ray Harryhausen.
>>
>Sinbad is given 10 days to reach Tartarus, retrieve the book, and come back to Syracuse. If he doesn't arrive on time, Proteus gets his head cut off
Why did the council give him that limited amount of time? It's not as if they wanted Syracuse' prince/only heir to die

>was engaged to Proteus for 10 years, but never married him and apparently never fell for him
>tells Sinbad that she loves him after being with him for less than 10 days (plus they didn't get along at the start of the journey)
>>
>And is this what you always wanted?
>Not really. When we were young, Proteus and I used to talk about joining the Royal Navy and serving Syracuse side by side. But as we got older, our lives began to change. He's a prince, and I'm well... I was never jealous of him though, until one morning, a ship came into harbor, a ship with his future on it. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen
>What was on the ship?
>You. Proteus met you at the dock. I jumped on the first outbound ship and never looked back

Weak backstory as to why he ended his friendship and became an infamous seas-travelling thief
>>
You gotta wonder what DreamWorks would be like if they didn't work on multiple movies simultaneously

Shrek changed everything for them

The only bad thing is we never got the Miguel, Tulio and Chel treasure hunting franchise they originally had plans for. The world needs more Chel media.
