>last actual episode that wasn't just a shitty advertisement or crossover released over 7 years ago
Is it safe to say that Happy Tree Friends is officially dead in the water at this point?
>>

was happy tree friends revolutionary when it came out for mixing up cute creatures and gore? i was like 6 when it came out so i don't remember
>>
I feel like it was dead like 15 years ago, I think the last episode I saw was when I was in high school in 2009.

I don't even think the creators even want to make episodes anymore, the show has a very large fanbase and is Mondos most popular show, I'm pretty sure Mondo could make more episodes if they wanted to given how much money it'd give them, but I have a feeling the creators just outgrew edgy stuff. Happy Tree Friends was a product of the old internet, a time when Flash cartoons were made to be edgy and obscene to flex what can't be shown on TV, but web cartoons have evolved a lot since then.

Honestly the show was running out of steam by the third internet season anyway. Season 2 and the tv series had plenty of episodes where the humor was both gore and cartoony humor, episodes like Blind Date are funny cause they wrap the gore around funny visual humor. Season 3 was just boring episodes about characters dying. These are all the reasons why the show started to decline in popularity in the early 2010's.

They're so fuckable but I don't want to acidentally kill them.
>>
Disco Bear is such a chad
>>
HTF was never good
>>
>>150720186
I think the only way they could make HTF work nowadays is if they tried something completely different than what they were originally doing. Everyone knows the formula with the show by now and its shocking edgy style isn't really that popular anymore
>>
>>150720538
But then that raises the question: What would that something that's completely different be?
>>
>>150720416
bro they're fucking circles :( come on
>>
>>150720808
Oh they're fucking circles all right.
>>
>>150720820
nono wait i didn't mean it like that i DIDN'T MEAN IT LIKE THAT

I think it could have a plot that's beyond "everyone dies", but still have a lot of gore and comedy. Basically, what HTF does now, but the joke is more than "haha, cute animals are getting gored up!" it'd be more chaotic and unpredictable.
>>
i like the raccoon twins alot :D
>>
>>150720538
I mean, they actually did kinda try that with Kapow. Still violent but had more of a straightforward action-y vibe to it. I thought it was pretty neat.
>>
>>150721066
I wish they made more Kapow episodes, loved how each episode had a unique artstyle
>>

Do you think giving the characters actual voices would work?

>No episodes where Disco Bear loses his clothes and runs around naked instead of Lumpy
No wonder it failed
>>
>>150721918
disco bear and russell wearing pants implies all the other characters walk around butt-ass naked
>>
I wonder what HTF would be like if it was a normal kid's cartoon and how popular would it be.
>>
>>150722288
It would've never taken off. The fact it was masquerading as a kids show was the exact reason why it stood out and got popular.
>>
I remember watching it on G4 back in like 2006. Is it really still a thing?
>>
>>150720808
>>150720820
It's funny because the fanart tends to stylize them a lot and its just like "how the hell is this the same character"

Eh, kinda. There hasn't been any decent new content in like a decade as far as I know. The most notable thing they did recently was crossovers with dumb ways to die and some literal who indie game.
>>150722288
It would be painfully bland and forgettable babyslop. Like something you'd see on youtube kids nowadays. I could see it having a very tiny cult following of creepy spergs on deviantart at most.
>>
>>150722288
It wouldn’t
