once ultimate ends i'm quitting comics. these are the last books I was somewhat interested in and keeping up with. oh well
>>
You just know theyโ€™re going to dump
a few of the characters in 616, where they will be in quickly forgotten
>>
>>150725389
Anon you shouldn't be reading these comics to begin with, these companies need to go out of business.
>>
>>150725389
You should have quit when you were only way behind.
New Ultimate has been terrible.
>>
>>150725389
I have been in and out of comics all of my life, I think that's pretty normal. If you feel like right now there isn't anything on offer for you, absolutely go ahead, but who knows, you might find yourself interested again in a decade when someone else does something interesting.

Have you tried the absolute line? They're in it for the long haul, and are quite good.
>>
>>150725389
What's the appeal of these books again? Other than throwing spiderfags a bone?

starting fresh. maker shit has been somewhat intriguing at least at the start

Make people realize that MJ and Peter being married and having kids loses its luster after awhile

>The schizo is pretending he reads comics.
You can't even read English!
>>
>>150726097
Because it's an ending, not a beginning. Peter should have gone through his trials and tribulations, then settled down.
>>
>>150726097
What people want, and maybe they're not good at articulating this because it goes against the assumptions of genre, is the Peter and MJ that has been canon for decades to swing off into the sunset happy and married and be a definitive end to that story.

They should do this, and then just create an actual new mainline continuity, they have run this version of the character to its limit, but they won't because it still sells so well.
>>
>>150726071
It's a universe untouched by Bendis, Slott, Aaron, and etc.
>>
>>150726266
>untouched by Bendis
>>
>>150726167
Doing things the DC way is a pain in the ass though.
>>

>life ends the moment you get married
to be fair this is a trope throughout most pure romantic fiction not just action/adventure/sci-fi/fantasy that happens to have romance, but it's always been dumb
was Kraven's Last Hunt boring to you? did you drop Fantastic Four in fucking 1965 before even getting to The Coming of Galactus?
>>
>>150726167
>>150726434
The truth of the matter is this
The reason that the MJ romance feels lackluster comapired to the other is because while Stan and the Fans have wanted it, nobody working on the Spider-Books (besides Stan) with any real guiding capacity over the book has ever liked it and so have tried to drag the relationship down. Which makes the enduring love for it stand out even more.
Its an unironic "A Real Pater and MJ Romance run has never been tried" situation where you would need everyone against it in editorial to be ousted and/or kept away from the Spider-Books and then give a good writer who is legitimately into it at least 24 issues where they are already married at the start to sell it.
If the dynamic just doesn't work under those conditions then it doesn't work, but until we get something close to that I honestly believe it can work.

FF can't maintain an ongoing in modern times. Last hunt is over 40 years ago.
>>
>>150726562
The standards for an ongoing have changed in recent decades.
Now if your run can last past issue 12, the book is viable for modern comics.
The recent FF run lasted 33 and ran immediately into a relaunch.
I know its a far cry from the days were even a c-lister could get 50 issues but in proportion its holding up.
>>
the only books i read are absolute and ultimate and even then i only read some of them.
>>
>>150726313
It got touched by Ziglar but Bendis have no involvement so far.
>>
>>150726645
Fantastic Four is a book that has broad sci fi pulp stories, the characters marriage can take the backseat to traveling the negative zone or fighting off aliens. Spider-man is a relatively grounded street character who's books are primarily about him navigating his social life responsibilities while trying to be a superhero, they just are fundementally different set ups.
>>
>>150725389
Absolute DC mogs ultimate marvel hard. You are doing a disservice to yourself by not reading absolute batman or absolute martian man hunter atleast
>>
>>150726953
This. The marriage and Momoko's art are honestly the only thing keeping Ultimate relevant.
>>
>>150726766
Firstly your moving goalposts but to engage with your point why does being a street-level book preclude Spider-Man from romance?
You can just as easily have storylines where Peter fights off Kingpin or Doc-Ock and then have him come home to MJ since not every story of a married man needs to be about the couple.
>>
Nothing is good anymore.
>>
>>150725389
>Still reading NuSpiderslop

Come on guys.... You're missing out on the greatest revamp of comings in OUR time.

>The recent FF run lasted 33 and ran immediately into a relaunch.

This rebrand really bugs me because there was reason for it. It's the same writer. They could have kept going for the big 50 milestone. Remember milestone issues? You'd usually get a big double page celebration. Long runs used to be a sign of series sustainability.
>>
>>150729455
Milestone issues only happen every 50 or 100 issues. Why wait that long when you can milk out issue number 1s instead?
The cunts in charge don't care about sustainability. They're still doing the same old short-term profit shit thats fucked over comics for the past two decades or so.
>>
>>150729455
>>150729571
In the case of the current FF relaunch I honestly think is a movie synergy attempt. Not in changing the comic to be like the film but in making an issue 1 to coincide with the movie to entice newcomers.
>>
>>150729611
Aka, short term profit nonsense.
