Would they let a single adult male adopt an imaginary friend?
>>
No. Gross.
>>
>>150726571
pretty sure it had happened in the show once or twice
>>
>>150726571
what a fucking horrifying idea, imagine walking around a huge empty house that looks obviously freshly lived and no one is there but you can see people interacting with invisible people.
i was going to say would adults even see the imaginary friends but obviously they can .
>>
>>150726571
Foster's is a front for the government to gather as many imaginary friends as they can and later "adopt" the useful ones when needed.
No civ can actually get their hands on one.

Why for?

I'll just leave this here.

That literally happens, it seems like they kind of don't give a shit. So to answer your implied question, yes you could probably bag Imaginary Frankie if you managed to get their fast enough and do the paperwork under Frankie's nose.

Potential Military/industrial/intelligence assets.
Coco and Eduardo could each turn the tide in a war. They haven't been "adopted" yet not only because there's no need to deploy them at the moment, but also because Foster's was deemed a better place to study them than some underground lab.

They never really did go much into worldbuilding since it was a light-hearted comedy but Foster's would be a terrifying concept in general if you actually took it seriously

They had a whole episode about one nefarious imaginary friend in a form of Lincoln-shaped pen who turned adoption process into chattel slavery where virtually anyone could buy themselves an imaginary friend as a personal slave for work and household chores.
So the answer is yes.

From a secular point of view it wouldn't be Jesus but the Holy Spirit. From a religous point of view the show just reflects reality by being a litmus test of what is imaginary or what is not, however the implications of imaginary concepts being memetic from person to person, being able to effect the material world directly and be sentient also changes the context entirely.

For the world of FHFIF to function metaphysics cannot really apply in a conventional sense. If knowledge or abstraction is something that is drawn from the metaphysical realm to understand the material realm that mirrors it, then imaginary friends in the manner that they are shown to interact to with the material world shouldn't actually be imaginary, yet they are imagined sentient constructs nonetheless which we can percieve as well as physically interact with in the material realm. This violates the typical material v immaterial relationship where there is a clear divide, yet imaginary friends in this universe can be both. The implication of this becomes horrifying if immaterial concepts can, by the rules of the universe set by the existence of imaginary friends, become physical.

For instance consider an orphan who believes in imaginary parents, or what if multiple children gathered together to imagine a collective thing? What would be the ramifications of the latter especially when multiple minds conjure up a force? What if that thing they imagined wasn't a friend, what if it was something that they feared? If 5 children watched a horror film and get scared by the monster, will the monster come and kill them in the night? If a nation is undersiege and the collective population of children imagine a strong guardian protector would that cause the creation of psudo imaginary soldiers? If God is not true in such a universe, what stops one from existing if billions of children believe otherwise? What stops evil from being real if children believe there is a true evil?
