I actually thought the animation for Deku vs. Maka was good. I know a lot of people had problems with it, but I thought it was great.Even if you disagree about Deku losing, given the power gap between the two it makes sense for Maka to take little damage. It also puts Soul in some kind of a mentor or elder role to Deku, and let Soul show how far he had come by defeating someone who had been down the opposite path as him. He wasn't just fighting Deku, he was TEACHING Deku. And I think that's very heartwarming in a way. That Soul would take the lessons he learned and help someone who was not like him.If this weren't a Death Battle I'm sure they would have ended cordially and taught Deku well. The alternate ending is weird, even if heartwarming in its own way.
