Joe or Transformers episodes because character focus episodes weren't really a thingThe agents M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M. assemble for each episode could be completely different and the average plot would functionally stay identical because the characters are THAT interchangeable with one-another.It's like the fondant of the Hasbro (technically it originated as Kenner but whatever) rosterFlavorless but adds to the presentation and doesn't get in the way of taste as long as you don't overdo itIf Kirkman wanted say Power Rangers in Energon Universe it would be bigger news but it'd also be more awkward to fit in because adding Power Rangers comes with greater world building implications and it becomes a balancing act between its mythos and G.I. Joe and especially Transformers.
Transformers is awesome because of how much it's capable of reinventing itself from series to series, I never understood the idiots addicted to infighting.I grew up with the Bay trilogy and TFA, they couldn't be less alike and I still love both. Hell after binging nearly everything in the franchise, I still love nearly everything from those first 30 years, and still find things to enjoy from later like FoC, Devastation, Rescue Bots and some IDW stories. Doesn't make me incapable of thinking some shit sucks, but I say that on their own merits, not because "they're different from thing I liked."Why are nerds addicted to sports-team fights for the sake of fights?

Everything so far has been blood and death and endless misery, but it works because DWJ manages to earnestly write these goofy robots as being heroes fighting a losing war until they barely make a comeback. Before IDW had the rights, they were part of Devil's Due Publishing, which also did a follow-up to the original Marvel comics and ended in a big World War III storyline. IDW got the rights to Transformers in 2005, then also got the rights to Joe in 2008, and they were actually kept as being set in different universes until years after the fact (which caused some continuity issues, especially regarding All Hail Megatron).
