Still the dumbest samura jack moment
>>150736673saying this when the second half of season 5 is a thing

>>150737230There was absolutely nothing wrong with season 5 and I will knife fight anybody who says otherwise.Season 2 of Primal too.Unicorns Warrior thing lost meFixed was a travesty
>>150737318retard
>>150737230don't care about the adult swim version
>>150737318Fixed was based though
>>150737318Let's tango, bitch.Ashi was one of the most forced love interest I've ever seen in any animated medium. They never do anything interesting with it, nor address the fact that Jack killed every single one of her sisters, and she purely exists to be a plot device that goes "oh I have Aku powers now! GOTTA GET BACK"The dumb stupid shit depression arc driven by "noooo Jack killed a real person" was dumb and stupid. It felt as if it was written by a kid whose idea of the samurai comes entirely from kiddie Tokusatsu shows. OG Jack killed people, aliens and robots left and right. They dedicated several minutes of airtime to directly reference past episodes. They brought back the Sam-Moo-Rhai, Demongo and the Scotsman for nothing. The Guardian gets killed off-screen. Ah but they brought back the dogs, thank God they brought back the talking dogs...Maybe it was just me but Aku felt really weak. When he got serious in the old episodes, he would get really creative with his shapeshifting powers. That one scene when he fights Jack's dad and takes the shape of a thousand samurai comes to mind, but in Season 5, I can't recall anything anywhere that cool. He... turned into a giant bowling ball?Past seasons had a vast collection of entertaining villains. Season 5 only gave us Scaramouche who fought Jack once, then kept appearing for funnies. He was great but went largely unused.I could also mention the whole "indirectly kill everyone who was born in the future by undoing the past", "muh gurren lagann rip off", and etc but those have been discussed ad nauseum
>>150736673The episode with mobsters stealing a water gem is way worse, only part of the original run I would say is truly bad
>>150737318>nothing wrong with season 5Except the fact the season sets up that Jack needs to accept he cannot change the past and instead should look towards the future only to go back on that with a Deus Ex Machina AND a paradox that ruins the entire series.
>>150737318>I will knife fight anybody who says otherwise.Alright. The second half of season 5 ranged from awkward and stilted to just downright bad with a finale that was clearly rushed and made almost no sense.
>>150737441It's not a movie I see myself rewatching very often, but it wasn't terrible. With /co/ having so many Red & Stimpy obsessives, I'm surprised we had such a dark reaction to the gross humor of Fixed. It's fine. But I hope his next project is something action based. Wasn't he working on a Viking cartoon? Whatever happened with that?
>>150737572I only vaguely remember it. What was so bad about it?
>>150736673If someone said the odds of a city-destroying asteroid hitting the Earth was 325 to 1, you'd start fucking panicking and figuring out a way to destroy it.
>>150737572I remember that episode just being meh. The only episode I really disliked was the farting dragon one. Feels really tonally dissonant.
>>150737637That's about a 0.3% chance, isn't it?
>>1507376880.3% guess based on calculations, which are not guarantees.
>>150737637I'm not letting some ice rock beat me to the punch now am I?
>>150737637>>150737688There's a city destroyer with a 3.1 chance of hitting Earth in 2032 but the potential impact area is a line along the equator from just off the west coast of South America to India
>>150737637If on the other side I had a 99.75 chance of achieving my ultimate goal I would take it every single time
>>150737538Ashi was boring but saying they did nothing interesting with her is just wrong, her development from being a crazy bitch into being a compassionate partner was enjoyable to watch also her Aku form. You can excuse her not caring for her sisters with her seeing them as mere killing machines but it's not really clear... Jack killing a human was impactful because up until that point Jack had not killed a single human, which makes no sense, but it's a cartoon. The fact that they still were insistent on using cartoon logic was enough for me to dismiss it. The old characters being brought back was fan service and it felt good to see them one last time. S5 not having lots of villians was healthy for the show because it would have been to cramped with too many plots. S5 looking as beautiful as it does excuses any sort of flaw it has for me. EXCEPT FOR AKU'S VOICE
>>150738903Agreed, Aku sounded like he had a poorly done Russian accent. It was grating on the ears.
>>150737637Exactly. It's also the fact everything is on Jack. If he takes that chance they'd have gotten hit because of him. He wouldn't take a risk with someone else's life.
>>150738903>Jack killing a human was impactful because up until that point Jack had not killed a single humanHe certainly seems to in "Jack and the Bounty Hunters" or whatever it was called when the whole episode is about the hunter gang planning how to beat him and Jack only shows up for a minute at the end to totally wreck them.

>>150740004The one with the Fairy was the stupidest. There must've been a hundred different ways to get out of that without using the wish.
>>150737318Really?What part of "We didn't even get to see king jack vs the Guardian" was right?Seriously, they promised us a resolution and climax then they fucking did nothing but spit on the audience for a shitty love story ripped from TTGL.
>>150737344Fuck you cocksucker, Season 5 was fine
>>150740239>What part of "We didn't even get to see king jack vs the Guardian" was right?Who cares? The entire point of the Guardian is that Jack couldn't beat him no matter what. Having Jack defeat him would just cheapen the character.

>>150737611>random water spirit is able to whoop Aku's ass with no ramifications>Aku needing the water gem at all despite stealing a whole planet's water in the first episode>mobsters knock out Jack for no reason when he was clearly about to beat Aku for good>Aku somehow not obliterating the gangsters who just brought Jack to his doorstep>Jack trusting obvious criminals with the gem and letting them extort a town's water supply right after they ruined his chance of slaying Aku
>>150737572Definitely a weak episode but Jack's mobster outfit was coolhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nd7LHe6JacM

>>150740359The point was that Jack hadn't finished his arc to be able to beat him. And then Jack goes through an entire trauma and redemption arc that would overlap just fine with him being able to return to the Guardian, but it's not used.
>>150736673Still pretty cool though.

>>150736673How can you tell it was dumbest?

>>150736673Tell me why Is stupid?
>>150736673>Still the dumbest samura jack momentNuh uh!
>>150738903>Jack killing a human was impactful because up until that point Jack had not killed a single humanThis was the moment that completely took me out of it. He's a fucking samurai, of course he'd be prepared to kill a human if the need arose. It was utterly ridiculous, "cartoon logic" or not.
>>150748063I'm glad you're pointing this out because who the fuck is watching this show thinking Jack has never once cut up a human before he's sent back or off screen?
>>150737318>There was absolutely nothing wrong with season 5You mean aside from the fact it shafted what Samurai Jack was in favor of a contrived romantic subplot? Which, at best, played to worse versions of strengths the show already did better without? Also fuck you for defending the lack of Guardian fight. Actually fuck you.>>150740532>>150742608>t. discovered themes and subtext yesterday

>>150749246I like that you're seething the whole thread just insulting people instead of actually having an argumentSeason 5 haters are pretty dumb...
Even if season 5 completely collapsed and became the worst stuff in the entire series at the end (it didn't), it'd still be worth it just for how great the first half is and the fact that it gave a series that got unceremoniously canceled a definitive ending. The second half is very rushed and I would argue if they were only getting 10 episodes, they shouldn't have done the romance plot with Ashi, because that's the kinda thing that the audience needs time to get used to. The Guardian thing is a little weird, but I feel like if you rewatched the whole series, there'd be a bunch of hanging threads like that just by the show's nature of being a weekly episodic adventure series. The Guardian is just the one fans hooked onto the most because it was the coolest one. Which, if you're doing a fanservice heavy final season, maybe you should just be giving the fans what they want, but, whatever.

>>150749738No, people hooked into the Guardian because it's the only episode that very expressly implies that Jack is supposed to come back to fight him again at some point in the future when he's more worthy. The portal isn't destroyed at the end of the episode, the Guardian isn't defeated, and the episode ends with the Guardian coyly acknowledging that Jack might have been the guy he's waiting for, just not ready to confront him yet.
