But there's no reason for the show not to continue on Shearer's death on either of those bases, if the others are enjoying it then they'll have had the "do you think we should continue without you" conversation, and if it's about keeping the show going for the sake of keeping friends and colleagues in work (who are most definitely not stars themselves) then why wouldn't they? Take the new impressionist on board, kickstart their career. That's how SNL worked, and you wouldn't even know who Shearer was without it. Still going. If only one person dies, there's a high chance of just some AI tool or a soundalike doing the voice. If two people die a couple of years apart, then they'll probably be comfortable enough in their AI/soundalike routine that they'll just do it for the second member. But three? I dunno, I feel like an exec might look at that and think about wiping the slate clean.
