>>150747677Englehart is easily the most consistent of the bronze age greats. The only thing from that run of Amazing Adventures up through when he starts working for Malibu that's outright bad is Fantastic Four. Everything else is good to great. This includes Green Lantern Corps which everyone whines about the Arisia stuff. But Englehart liked his dramatic and ill-considered trashy romances (i.e. Mantis' entire role in the Avengers) and I get what he was likely going for in that: girl has a crush on an older guy, girl grows up and is now an adult and pursues the guy and the guy has to deal with conflicted feelings of being pursued by/in a relationship with someone he's known since she was young. The ring is basically just a macguffin to magically make her in adult and have her age rapidly (and it's stated that both her body AND mind age, not just her body). I also suspect that nobody wanted a kid hanging around the GLs either which is why there was never any effort to de-age her back into a kid, come up with explanations as to why she was now an adult that didn't involve the ring and nobody seemed to have a problem with Guy fucking her. She was just a kid who grew up into a woman, that's really it.
