Why was Loss as infamous as it was?
>>150756805>spoonfeed me what a simple google search would turn upFuck off, faggot.
It was the first and last time B^U ever made something funny.
>>150756805Gamer comics were an early internet cultural staple and they had an irreverent, edgy tone that made everything repetitive and shitty. Out of that comes a build up of gamer wife getting pregnant and then having a tragic miscarriage. That tone shift, that out of place shock and how it begged you to suddenly take it seriously was incredibly funny. Also something about how gamers want to be taken seriously while also making glorified toys their identity but they also want to be edgy and irreverent without consequence.Great video on it:https://youtu.be/TebCHHCw9rY
>>150756805Zoomers ruined loss.
>>150757031>HBomerGuyno thank you
>>150757031>Hbombertardpost discarded>>150756805The real reason its funny is its a bizzare non sequitur. The comic was basically a mix of 90's and 00's humor and references to gamer culture of the time. Then it just fucking swerves so hard it gives you tonal whiplash. Add onto that it hamfisted an extremely traumatic and tragic topic into a fucking 4 panel comic about video games. Last ingredient was sites like early 4chan and YTMND where the irreverent and mocking culture of the time was take to the extreme basically mocked and tore it to shreds. to the point its now internet canon.
back in the ancient days, /co/ discovered something interesting about CAD; a simple formula could be applied with a surprisingly high success rate: remove panels 2 and 3, remove dialouge from panel 4. Presto; a decent comic. It doesn't always work of course, and especially when it's a multi-strip storyline.
>>150756859OP is a google searchsomeone has asked the question, pressed the search AI for answers, and now it's here asking us
Fuck OP, new question: why are people STILL obsessed with this stuff? Still bring up Dobson and Questionable Content constantly? I saw someone tried to bring back the CAD threads, but that didn't last.
>>150757699Because the new lolcow comic creators like Pizza Cake are politically driven and that's nowhere near as fun.
>>150757720Why the need for a lolcow?
>>150757699Same reason they're still posting about cartoons they watched in grade school, its funny and nostalgic.Except QC those threads have been completely replaced by people who genuinely like the comic, and its sickening.
>>150757740Because most movie stars feel pathetic to look at, true lolcows are rare now that everyone has their stupidity in full display thanks to social media.
>>150758681>genuinely like the comicThat's not true, they only like the QC porn by drawanons. Every week they bemoan that nothing ever happens
>>150758724There would be no need to complain about nothing ever happening if they weren't invested in the story. Honestly being in it for porn of the ugly tranny characters might be even worse.
>>150757285anymore examples?

This one deviated from the set forumla a little by keeping the dialouge in the last panel. Obviously it wouldn't make sense without it.
In this one the dialouge in the last panel is actually new; the "trainsaw" pun was irresistable and, incredibly, was not used in the origianal version.
>>150757274You forgot the main reason in why it spread as far as it did; Internet drama. The instant the comic was uploaded, practically everyone was ragging on it on Tim Buckley's forums. But instead of handling it gracefully, Fuckley not only took to basically going on a banning spree screeching about everyone shittalking him and Loss.jpg, he put up this giant post on his website trying to justify the comic's existence by bringing up his ex-girlfriend's own miscarriage and how it affected him (naturally without a single mention of how she felt about it). That's the main thing that drove everyone on the internet to joining in on dunking on Loss.jpg, not just the inherent absurdity of the comic itself.
>>150758889>charactersliterally just the one and we all hate her
>>150759601>>150759615>>150759774kek thanks
>>150759658That and he by accident made it iconic with it's layouts.
>>150758721>most movie stars feel pathetic to look atWhat? Explain?
>>150758724It's definitely true. It's a bonafide fandom. Dedicated dislike like that can only be interpreted as love. Especially the ones that fucking pay a subscription.
