Would he still be beloved by fans if the series had shown in high detail how much of a bloodthirst warlord he was before his son's death?
>>150788275if anything that would only heighten the difference of how he used to be and how he is now, showing just how total his change in view was
>>150788275I always thought he did the warlord stuff because he was obligated and not because he actually wanted to.
leaves from the vine
>>150788368we only get a glimpse into his past as the dragon of the west, where he was shown to be rather lackadaisical about the prospect of taking ba sing se and having a laugh about how easily the first wall fellit doesnt necessarily paint him as a blood thirsty monster like OP has repeated over and over againbut it does show that he fully buys into the propaganda of the fire nation and doesnt really fully comprehend the gravity of war but whats more important is that he realizes the error of his ways and eventually morphs into the wise old man dedicated to taking down the fire nation afterwards
>>150788275He helped overthrow his brother from ruling the world, I'm sure he's redeemed in and out of universe.
>>150788450in a moment of absolutely unsubtle symbolism, the last thing he does is liberate ba sing se from the fire nation, in a reversal of his original positionincluding the part where he says on-screen the irony of only finally conquering ba sing se when he was against the fire nationand then proceeds to open a tea shop inside ba sing se just for good measure
>>150788275Sure? I mean, they already had the letter of him boasting casually about how easily the wall of ba sing se fell.
>>150788275Why do you retarded faggots have no other talking pointsIs this series even actually any good in retrospect?
>>150788588>Why do you retarded faggots have no other talking pointsmore like this one weirdly persistent poster who uses the same image over and over again
>>150788588It is, don't let the aspies deter you from watching a good show. Also don't listen to them when they say Korra is good actually.
What's weird is that it was implied that he had been a longstanding member of the White Lotus prior to the siege of Ba Sing Se so either Iroh was still riding the whole killed the last dragon reputation at that point or it was a fragment from an earlier characterization the writers just didn't think would stand out as much as it did.In hindsight, maybe a more interesting characterization would have been for Iroh to have always been the way he is personality-wise, but for his motivations to have shifted from apologist - 'I can ameliorate the worst of the Fire Nation's atrocities if I'm in a position of authority' to complete denunciation of the Fire Nation at the end of season 1 with Zhao killing the moon fish.
>>150788275>how much of a bloodthirst warlordHey, it's this crap! Again.
>>150788275Everyone appreciates a fun villain, no matter how evil they are.
Aang should've been a firebender to start with
>>150788401cry baby
>>150788275no
I like to think his son was the real bloodthirsty one, Lu Ten wanted to be among the first through the breech and that’s how he died.
>>150788401I cry
>>150788588>Is this series even actually any good in retrospect?Just ignore the comics, and anything Korra-related. Not to mention anything about the 3rd Avatar show.
I want to brutally beat the fat fuck with a crowbar until the Nutella leaks out of ever orifice in his body for throwing his niece under the bus when he has killed more people than anyone in the war. He's a hypocrite and he deserves to die
>>150793770Fag
>>150795475>or throwing his niece under the bushe was telling zuko that azula is crazy, which is true
>>150795475Cope and seethe tripfag
>>150795475Average Azulafag
>>150788499That’s not symbolism.
>>150795475okay woman
>>150788758or he was the White Lotus previous plan to deal with the fire nation fucking up the balance of the world If the fire nation total victory couldn't be avoided without the avatar the next best thing would be to subvert itPutting one of theirs, or at least some one sympathetic to their philosophy, in the fire lord's throne
>>150788275>People aren't allowed to changeBro, did you even watch the show? People changing is a major theme.
>>150788401Still gets me
>>150788328>>150788368It doesnt matter how much he repents or why he did he things he did at the end of the day he is still responsibel for the death of countless earth Kingdom citizens and no ammount of being ashamed of these actions and repenting will bring these people backHe still deserves to be put on trial for his actions and he might get milder circumstances for helping restoring the Earth Kingdom back but so maybe he shouldnt be put to death but he should be put in prison for a while at the very least
>>150788275I think Iroh's involvement in the war was closer to a traditional military vs military type fighting as opposed to Sozin's and Ozai's "Kill 'em all and let the Spirit World sort 'em out" methods.Slightly more morally defensible as far as war can be defended.
>>150797751With how many typos you have you have to be typing your posts through tears of impotent rage.
>>150795475and you later wonder why people in here constantly make fun of you?
>>150797794the thread was at page 10 and i typed fast to get my point through before it became archived You Wouldnt belive me the number of times i wrote up an argument at lenght only for the thread to close because i was to slow
>>150796336OP is clearly talking about the audience's point of view and today's modern audience is pretty much>>People aren't allowed to changeThey can still never show what all he did in the war and he would still have been torn to shreds by fans if his show aired in the 2020's.
>>150795475I have this peculiar feeling that if Azula was a boy, you wouldn't even see a lick of this kind of tardrage
>>150788630>Season 1 of Korra was pretty good, until they dropped the ball at the end>Season 2 was awful and retconned a lot of stuff from Last Airbender>Season 3 was better, but viewers ended up feeling sympathetic for the villains>Season 4 no one really cared about the show anymore
>>150797878>the thread was at page 10And you should have left it there
>>150788275Would you live another year if you knew this attempt at changing other people's minds about him would never work
>>150797751Average American liberal btw
>>150788275>Would he still be beloved if his badass years were shown?Uhh sure? Oh boy anon, if you got any other questions such as "is water wet?" then you're in luck cause I got the answer to that one too!
>>150797971You'd be surprised. If Azula was a boy, it would have bought a new whole side to the fandom, which would have been the "dark triad alpha rapechad aficionados, "I can fix him" tumblrites" crowd. Also firecest would have been a behemoth thanks to the fujos
>>150795475It’s not him, the trip code is different.Scrapper died, this is some other niggerbuddy.
