What's the consensus on Absolute Superman? WW is routinely touted as the best of the line, Batman is retarded fun and sells the most, MM is the indie darling of the bunch, and the rest don't matter. But what about Absolute Superman? I never see anyone really talking about it?
>What's the consensus onShut the fuck up, clanker.

>>150794770Is this some ebin new zoomer lingo I'm supposed to be up to date with, faggot?
the whole absolute line has been absolute dogshit so far
>>150794764>WW is routinely touted as the best of the lineBy retards
>>150794764Brainiacs design is terrible. Ra’s as a villain isn’t a bad idea but the execution stinks. The pacing is terrible, especially how much it rushes through some things. The Kryptonian flashbacks are basically the best thing about the book. Clark himself is pretty boring and so are this version of the Kents. Half the time it feels like the book is trying to force in too much material at once.

Started out pretty good but has been getting worse, which is funny because GL started out pretty bad but has gotten better in the last 3-4 issuesMMH > WW > Batman > GL > Supes > Flash
>>150795887you're out of your mindFlash is not the worst. Jason Aaron is such a massive cocksucker. Him, Tom King, Tom Taylor might be the most obnoxious writers in the industry right now. His Superman is filled with tryhard edge, it feels like a relic of 2008 Michael Bay style "widescreen" comicsMMH > WW > Batman >> Flash > GL >>>> Supes
Jason Aaron is one of the worst writers to ever do it, and he doesn't understand the character at all so
>>150794764>WW is routinely touted as the best of the lineYou desperately want this to be the truth, but it's not.
>>150797235>His Superman is filled with tryhard edge, it feels like a relic of 2008 Michael Bay style "widescreen" comicsYou say that as if it's a bad thing. The problem is that Aaron's Supertard is nowhere near that level of entertainment. The covers promised a true Linkin Park Superman, and instead we got CW Superman.
I dont care for it personally. I appreciate what they are trying to do, but it feels... forced. If they wanted to make a darker edgier superman who is still good at heart, in a world that is itself slanted towards cruelty and darkness, they already did it back in Gods and Monsters with the mexican Zodbaby superman.Could just do similar. The whole lazarus corp thing is what takes me way out. Absolute Batman for instance is still recognizable as something you might call earth, in our time.Superman makes it seem like something radically different. it feels like your generic one world government corporation kind of stories, because lazarus corp is EVERYWHERE. and we dont see much outside of it, beyond third world nations getting in the middle of Superman and his would be captors.it just doesn't click. I feel like if you want to do something different yet familiar, keep the fact he was raised on earth. Either change who he was raised by, or change the kents. That would truly change his personality and how he grows up.Like Bruce, who's father is now a teacher, and mother a social worker. And the not being rich part.Absolute Jor El is very bog standard Jor El. So of course Superman is going to be a good man at heart, seeing as he was already a young boy when he was sent off.I dont know. Absolute Superman seems so far, the weakest of the bunch. Just from the get go. Braniac is whatever, he doesnt have the same threatening kind of aura that regular braniac tends to have. He's just a fucking lunatic.
>>150794764MM > WW > Batman > Superman > the rest
>>150794835>The Kryptonian flashbacks are basically the best thing about the book.Seconded, it really sold the grandude of death of entire planet and told satisfying trafic story on its own. The scene it's Els have to accept they can save only so many was pretty good. And it did such a good job of familiarising us with Krypton, that first shot of Kansas genuinely feels like an alien planet. What else I liked...Superman's heat vision feels powerful. It's no longer precise little beam, it's pure radiation shooting from his eyes.Brainiac has interesting origin as nobody of his race getting to be someone, now basically only mattering to Ra because he's a fish in small pond. The bit he was reluctant of calling other Brainiac was neat.Criticism of Chatgpt was done well...until they did it 5 separate times. Everything else ranges from I can take it or leave it to I cant bring myself to care at all.

Outside him having a friend in the solar cape thing, they havent really done anything remarkable or left field with the idea unlike the other absolute titles. This reads more like something out of Death Metal or the Dark Multiverse
>>150797235Flash has far worse pacing than Superman. It's been boring and next to nothing has happened. We know fuck all about this Flash or Project Olympus. The extra Rogue villains have just been thrown in haphazardly.Superman actually isn't as badly paced as people keep saying, you've gotten plenty of Smallville and Krypton shit. It is competent. Krypton, Sol, his heat vision, these are all fun concepts for Elseworlds Superman. It is the Lazarus Corp and the constant "working class Superman lol" stuff that is a bit too boring and on the nose.
>>150804081>This reads more like something out of Death Metal or the Dark MultiverseThe whole Absolute line doesn't feel like it really has a central theme or point. Like WW doesn't feel much different at all to a mainstream Wonder Woman series.
>>150797235>His Superman is filled with tryhard edgeWhich is insane because Batman is also filled with tryhard edge but it's a million times more entertaining. Snyder fucking eats Aaron's lunch when it comes to channeling his inner 12 year old
>>150797235Flash's pacing is absolutely horrendous. It's like GL's first 3 issues except it stayed like that instead of getting better.
>>150807085The theme seems to be villains being the heroes friends considering at least 3 or 4 of the books so far have been doing that
>>150794764Better than Flash and GL but worse than WW, MM, and Batman. I think a lot of the ideas it introduces are neat and both the the krypton and brainiac flashbacks were cool but the main plot isn't super compelling. It's also difficult for me to picture it occurring in the same universe as the other books, like does Lazarus Corp just not have any kind of presence in Gotham or Gateway City?
