I got the idea by mixing creeps in the entertainment industry today, like in kpop and Hollywood and the western music industry with ancient mystery cults and an eyes wide shut international network but the 360 AD version. My story in the same setting about musicians in Phoenicia and Byzantium has coil druids also as the baddies, but I'm not sure that story will ever see the light of day. The problem I'm finding with making comics about musicians is it's hard to do without being able to hear the actual music. I could draw crazy patterns and stylized images to represent music but it's just not the same thing as being able to actually hear it. The MCs of the Phoenicia story are a priestess of Astartes/Aphrodite idol who talks to her Goddess and hears messages Joan of arc style and was kicked out of her temple by jealous head priestesses. She has a voice that can calm and create euphoria in people. She's paired with a busker oud player who lives on the streets who is descended from dionysus but doesn't realize it, his music causes riots and discordant frenzy in people, so together they kind of balance eachother out. It's just an idea and might never see the light of day, I should atleast draw the MCs one of these days.

I remember in a thread maybe a year ago asking if you were inspired by Mage: the Ascension due to some of the occult references though I'm thinking this is a similar case of just vaguely similar ideas drawn from the same source. Followers of Set are a Clan of gnostic weirdoes who claim that Set the Egyptian god was the first vampire, though they have a bunch of different cults all over the world that replace Set with Jormungandr, Quetzalcoatl, etc depending on the region. Ironically, them drinking blood is probably the least evil thing about them because their specific gnostic belief system basically encourages its adherents to torture both themselves and others (whether that's physical or otherwise) to transcend baseline reality. The premise for the Phoenicia story sounds cool, I hope you find a way to use it one way or another. These kind of fantasy settings which incorporates multiple different IRL mythologies are hard to write well, but I think Oi! pulls it off still even if you consider the comic rough. Picture semi-unrelated, its from one of the IDW Cobra comics.

I know of Vampire the Masquerade because my friend and his cousin used to go to LARP events for it. I think this gnostic world snake joint mythos must come from some real world religion or cult, the idea is everywhere in the collective conscious.The working title of that comic I was talking about was Aeon/Sophia, with the busting dionysus street performer being named Aeon and the Astarte priestess named Sophia.The idea i have is only for a beginning- Sophia was sent to the market of a nearby town by the priestesses of her temple, told she's destined to meet her man of fate. Aeon, who doesn't believe in gods, sees her wandering around alone and hits on her. They start squabbling with Sophia telling Aeon to fuck off so she can meet her prophesied man of destiny. While they're arguing, someone steals her bag, Aeon starts fighting the guy to get it back, and in the melee he accidentally punches a guard in the Roman garrison, starting a chase scene through the town. Aeon uses his music to cause chaos and riots to help get away and Sophia uses her magic idol voice and voices from aphrodite she hears in her head to help calm the crowd and guards, and they steal a camel and escape. I'd want it to be an adventure comic where each episode can take place in different towns and settings. Similar to how Rhiannon the "selkie" from oi is descended from ancient atlantean genetic experimentation, the MCs can encounter different "mythological creature" idols on their travels in byzantium and the Mediterranean, while dodging Romans and eventually getting on the radar of the Coil and having to deal with them. Right now I fear it's too derivative which is why I haven't done anything with it. I like the idea of a comic where I can focus on building up the relationship of the two leads[1/2]

I also like the idea of a traveling episodic format similar to avatar the last Airbender where I can have new locations all the time, which is the opposite of Oi which really only had Oi village and Banshee vale's cave as the only two settings in the story. However like I said before, I might not do anything with this story or ever make it. I like the idea but not sure it has much mass appeal.

Then with volume 3 I felt like things were dark for long enough so morphed it from horror in the final battle in to shonen-lite, and I tried to add some humor and make it less grimdark than volume 2. My overall concept for the comic was that because it was a comic about bards and storytellers, I'd be able to to make each arc a different genre of story if I wanted to and the comic itself should be able to flip to different genres. I didn't quite pull it off but that's what I was going for.The manga Akane-Banashi about rakugo is doing what I was trying to do, but in a much more masterful way. At the time I was heavily inspired by the Sandman, each volume being a different type of story than the previous one, but still managing to remain cohesive.
