Judge Dredd Megazine turns 35 today!Drop by and say happy birthday to The Big Meg.
The America story was alright, I didn't read Megaopolis or Dreadnought since I need to catch up on those
>>150850106>>150850192I thought it was ok too, Anderson was good.
>>150850535The Brit Cit strip felt a bit out of place along with the John Wagner-written Rok of the Rovers, but that's more due to lack of knowledge or interest in Football
>>150850106>New Megatropolis>Artist Dave Taylor just diedFucking hell
>>150850834He just lives that comic more than anything else these days. I don’t think he wants to be a part of Dredd any longer as he’s been doing it for almost 50 years now.
>>150850106
>>150851961
>>150851976
>>150851986
>>150851994
>>150852004
>>150851755He is doing at least one more Dredd story, apparently, but I can see why he thinks he's done basically every story he can think of for Dredd
>>150852012
>>150852023
>>150852040
>>150852054
>>150852022He hasn't killed him yet.
>>150851961Thanks for storytime.
>>150851986Get those clankers.>>150852069Damn. I like the way the conflict was handled. No one is fully innocent but they all have to navigate the contradictions in the system.
>>150852703NNOOOOOO JUDGE DREDD IS SATIRE THEY'RE MAKING FUN OF YOU AND YOU'RE TOO MEDIA ILLITERATE TO GET IT
>>150852703It was a decent story. Most modern Dredd is hit or miss.
>>150852114That's only going to happen when he dies
Dredd threads always die when it's American hours
>>150850192>>150850535Beeny's a lot of fun, but I feel like maybe she's building to a showdown with Dredd someday>>150850834Rok's growing on me, but yeah, it's trying to be a kind of comic that hasn't really existed for 40 years and was always pretty nichethe Kevin Keegan quotes are a nice blast from the past tho>>150852114>>150854002genuinely thought for a moment he may have died in 2000AD this week, just some ordinary weird bullshit finally catching upit seems like they wouldn't but then the Dead Man and Kraken were shocking at the time
thanks
>>150852069How fitting to have an America story 35 years after the first one. Obviously it can’t holdup to the greatest Dredd ever written, but was a good addendum to America.
>>150852937No way... I thought they were laughing with me but they were laughing AT me instead!
I have to get back on this. Last I read was The Day the Law Died.
>>150855760I went to an LCS to get some trades for a friend since I figured he'd like it but they didn't stock anything 2000 AD
>>150858573They even included this scene.
>>150855993>genuinely thought for a moment he may have died in 2000AD this weekIf Dredd is going to die, he's going to die in a really mundane story, not some Lovecraft-esque horror story
>>150862658He will die in bed.
>>15086058345 years of stories for you.
>>150862707Isn't the rumour he will just be shot by some cit perp on a mundane crime blitz or something
>>150863240I think Wagner has said something to that effect on the 2000AD podcast. It won’t be a big heroic moment, just a random shot.
Bump for dump. Splash, strips, stories, singles, anything dredd. Dredd drokking RULES!!
>>150863635
>>150863893 Fucking love how dredd commits and they don't try to portray him like he's unsure or regretful. Such a great story/ world. Like the story about not snowing on Christmas, and we learn that they can control weather and vote for what it would be like on a given day, and they are protesting for snow but the vote was in favor for fair skies and dredds just like, okay well given you snow, and calls in a localized blizzard on the protesters that burys them. Just so badass and fun and genuinely good writing and world building and art
>>150864199
>>150864289I wonder if it's worth going through the issues where he first meets various other Judges to try and figure out whocan't be DeMarco, unless that park that was out in 301; Hershey? Anderson? Castillo? McGruder?
>>150852054“I am due process” goes pretty hard.
>>150855760>Burger hour
>>150865429
>>150865445
>>150865463
>>150865477

So does anyone actually know why the second volume of PSI Files was never reprinted so the first printing now goes for triple digit prices? Or should I try to contact Rebellion about it to ask?Because I *know* whatever the issue is, it'll be resolved the moment I bite the bullet and buy one of those ridiculously priced copies.
>>150865546>There's a sorytime going onOh shit, sorry.
>>150865546>should I try to contact Rebellion about it to ask?Couldn't hurt. I got Volume 1 in a sale at my LCS and was pretty disappointed to see this myself.
>>150865561it's already ended anon
>>150865239It was a solid line for sure.
>>150865546Maybe something controversial happens. I believe if you get the Dredd case files you will get all the Anderson issues too.
>>150865643Indeed. No “Gaze into the fist of Dredd!” or even “Request denied!” but it carries a lot of weight.
>>150866063I always liked this one.
>>150865262Glad to see my country represented so positively. Speaking of which I'm thinking a big mac, fish o filet, fries, and a tall frosty one for second lunch today.
>>150866546Bolland is so good. Also Jock is great.
>>150864318I don't remember all the details of that story, but I don't think the alt Dredd even became a judge or had his city go through all that shit. Bench is just a one time throw away for the larger story.
>>150865507> Almost fuck his ass>Finish with fucking his soulGood ole dredd.
>>150867108Yes. I will always be amazed when great artists capture concepts so perfectly and translate them in an image. Like picrel, basically he created dredd for the 2012 movie and it works so well. I love comics so much, what an awesome thing
>>150865507>Free ticket to the Black MuseumYou're all heart, Dredd!
>>150867616I love the Black Museum stuff. Easily my favourite horror comic anthology.
>>150867449The Dredd storylines were pretty fantastic too.
>>150866603
>>150868566Best Batman team up ever. Those 4 stories are some really good stuff and the art is all next level.
What would you recommend to someone who’s never read any Judge Dredd at all? I’ve always been interested in the character, but in my country they don’t really sell Dredd comics, so I’d probably have to import them from the UK. I know about The Complete Case Files editions that collect the classic stories, but there are so many volumes. It’s honestly a bit intimidating.
>>150868636To get into the more modern stuff probably start with the Day of Chaos trades. That’s the last major major storyline even to happen. Alternatively start with Case Files 1 and enjoy the zany early years.
>>150864184>>150866603it's a classic pose that more comics should use
>>150868636The Daily Dredds also aren't a bad way of dipping your toe into Dredd for the curious, since the short Newspaper Strips, but boil the character and Mega City one down to a digestible form while also referencing storylines like Apocalypse War
>>150867323He was a Judge but he quit. I don't think it really matters where the park is - you can kind of believe he ends up with any of them, or someone else entirely - it's more about showing Dredd that his choices could have led elsewhere, which gives us that really nice Forrest Gump/Chaplin's Tramp moment of silent reflection. Still waters run deep and all.
>>150868950Any reference to that panel is great. Must be nice being the person who owns that actual piece.
>>150868959One page Dredd.
>>150865507Thanks for story.
>>150868959Okay I laughed. That was a good setup and delivery.
