Protestants have VeggieTales

Mormons have the Tuttle Twins

Almost literally everything else. It's really weird.
There's a reason that AllTheTropes and TVTropes have a section titled something like "all Christianity is Catholic" or whatever.
The only issue is that while I can think of a million non animated examples, the only thing coming to mind that's /co/ related and explicitly Catholic is Battle Nun.

Random question guys. I remember I stumbled upon some catholic cartoon by chance and it had the moment when Pontius Pilat is asking people whom they wanted released. Jesus or the Barabbas. I recall I found that scene particulary hilarious because of Barabbas' cartoonishly evil smirks while the crowd was chanting to get him freed in a song. Anyone knows what was the name of that cartoon or ever seen that scene? It's been stuck with me for ages.

Name any Western or Japanese animator that's confirmed to be a Catholic, you simply cannot do it. Animation as a medium spiritually belongs to protestants. Japanese I feel like are honorary protestants because they possess the German and Anglo-Saxon spirit.

Yasuhiro Nightow (creator of Trigun) has often been said to be a Catholic, but I don't know if there's actually any proof of that. So might just be an old fandom rumor because of the Christian themes in Trigun.

>What do Catholics have?
Catholic here.

We watched Veggietales and Prince of Egypt growing up when we where little. And Star Trek when we where older. Narnia and LOTR, obviously.

We watched a lot of things actually. Greek mythology, Science Fiction, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, Robin Hood.

It was really the things we weren't allowed to watch because they where "bad" that I remember. My school was suppoed to go on a class trip to the movies to see The DaVinci Code and the Bishop wrote a letter to the principle and stopped us. Dogma was a bad movie. His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass was supposedly blasphemous so it was bad.
>>
>>150865639
Anyone notice the Earthworm Jim creator seething constantly about the Veggietales guy on X?
>>
>>150868322
Da Vinci Code IS a bad movie because its central conceit is that Jesus never died on the Cross, but had children with Mary Magdalene instead, and the Church has been complicit in keeping this a secret. It's a horrendously anti-Catholic story.

Catholic here too, but my parents let my brothers and I watch everything for the most part. It was only a few of the protestant kids I knew who ever had their parents would ban stuff like the Simpsons or stuff with magic in it.

In my experience there's most Catholics are very laidback about things. Kevin Smith himself was a Catholic for that matter. It's something that makes me wary of a lot of Catholic converts who aren't from culturally Catholic families, they sometimes act more like hardcore protestants.

Youre not the first to pretend this doesnt apply or that Jesus does not literally mean what he says as the orthodox cchristians say this doesnt count for them either. Mormon Jesus appeared again in the flesh to bless the native americans. Not in spirit, not in viisons, literally the same way he appeared to Thomas etc he appeared to them. And also mormons dont believe in the Genesis creation account they believe in a cosmic galactic epic where Jesus and the Devil are gods of other planets and brothers like its Star Wars or dbz or something. So yea he is basically a whole different entity, different than the biblical figure

No, I get it. Most ethnic Catholics fell for the Anericanist idea that you have to separate religion from culture in order to fit it in with America's dominant protestant culture, something they resisted until Vatican II weakened actual Catholic culture and allowed such a subversive idea to take root. E. Michael Jones talks a lot about this.

They "take it seriously" in ways even the just as serious religious Catholics don't. Emphasizing certain aspects of the faith while downplaying others in a different way than people raised Catholic.

Converts going on about how things are "demonic," acting like evangelicals clutching their pearls. Strict adherence to rules in general as opposed to the church community.

In general, converts often bring in some protestant cultural attitudes, like mirroring Evangelical spiritual vocabulary. They're also more legalistic, converts tend to emphasize clear moral and doctrinal prohibitions (sometimes using language associated with Protestant fundamentalism) and strict adherence to rubrics, while cradle Catholics tend to emphasize charity and the established culture of the parish community.

No, they're just Bible story retellings with a focus on simple moral lessons for children as opposed to specific treatises or dissertations on doctrine. There's no reason Protestants or Catholics couldn't watch them, unless you want to get particular about which Bible version they use for the verse of the day.

Yeah, Islam has two main denominations, Sunni and Shia. They had a major argument about who should lead the Islamic world after the last Imam disappeared leaving no heirs. Imams were important to Muslims because they were descended from the Prophet's niece, Fatima. The position of Caliph was born from this. Many muslims accepted this but the other faction did not. So these groups became known as Sunni and Shia. That become a moot point when the mongols invaded Baghdad and ended the Caliphs.

Because Christfaggotry is a top-down religion where power is vested in the church. God has all the power and you have to beg for him to help you.
Power corrupts so the church inevitably gets corrupted and turned into a business. Until a new sub religion appears claiming to be a return to principles.
That's how the protestant reformation and Christianity itself happened. Of course this isn't the only way you get new denominations though.

Eastern religions are more bottom-up. You have lots of small local temples and shrines instead of a monolithic governing church. The power is within you and you have to improve yourself.
Religious beliefs are all over the place but people don't feel like they have to split off into new denominations because faith is supposed to be personal.
That said I'm speaking from a bit of cultural ignorance on the topic of eastern religion.

Catholics and Orthodox don't read the book, because they have to be told what everything means, by their church. So there's no reason for them to read the book, when they need 2,000 years worth of church writing to be able to read basic sentences. On the off-chance that some faggot 1,000 years ago decided that he didn't like the meaning of something.
>>150869731
Catholics and Orthodox can't read the book, because they have 2,000 years worth renegotiations from the church to tell them what the verses actually mean.
Protestants can't properly understand the book, because they axed part of the OT.
The only people who can actually read the book, are the ones that don't believe in it.
>purgatory
It's an idea created from the apocrypha, which the Protestants cut from the book. It's some creative make-em-ups though.

the original spread is attributed to come from the apostles, who were mostly children and teens with how only one was married during christs life, with the first century or so of spread convincing jews, women and slaves where the primary target of conversion. There would be some drift and alot of mystery cults shamelessly painting themselves as christian while being nothing of the sort.
After constantine, the need to get everyone on the same page became apparant, One of these top issues was the nature of christ, how much god and man is he made of? very important, the afterlife is at stake. The Nicean council solidified the predecessor of East Orthodox and Papal Catholicism, with much of the oldest branches being from opponents to the decisions or people not invited.
East and west would split mostly over the idea of st Peters legacy and their position among the rulers of kingdoms.
next biggest split, martin Luther, believing the pope to be just initially, nailed a letter of common grievances with his local bishopric to their door for the theological debates they had at the time. Before his summons to the pope, he found out that he was in on the policy to solicit bribes to get into heaven. He proceeded to denounce the pope,. This would lead to many of the newly literate to read the bible in their own languages, often not understanding it through the translation filter, what's supposed to be metaphysical and what things meant in the parlance. (Also the reason your Brahmins didn't let your ancestors have temple access)
Post reform churches are either mad zealots, Nitpickers, cults of personality, or from kings who felt their kingdom needed a new version of the papacy for any reason. Like how henry 8th felt without a son there'd be civil war and strife and god would support enough divorces to make it happen.

I have NEVER seen a white hippie type come in to the temple 3 times in a row. They may come once, they may come twice, but I have never seen a white hippie type come 3 times in a row.

Well, yeah, the heart of being Catholic is realizing that it's nobody's fault but yours where you end up.

Jesus Christ died on the Cross, and then Rose from the Dead, and so the pathway to Eternal Life is open. But you don't have to take that path, and you can stray from that path even if you start out on it.

The heart of the Catholic Church is that you have opportunities all your life to repent of your sins, to do God's Will in the world, to help the poor, the sick, the lowly, the downtrodden, the lost. To advance the Social Kingship of Christ, politically, socially, economically, and to pave the way for as many people as possible to accept the Gospel and realize that Jesus is Lord.

You can fuck up over and over and over, but God will always take you back if you repent. Like the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard. Even those who prove faithful workers at the last hour are paid the daily wage, which is Eternal Life.

But in the end you have to decide. Are you going to serve God, or aren't you? This isn't Protestantism. "Once Saved, Always Saved" is not the teaching of the Church. You will be judged by your actions and your works, in accord to how you served Christ's Will in the world. And you will be sorted, in the end. If you really made it, you'll go straight to Heaven. Most people will go to Purgatory, where their sins and flaws will be worked out of them before they make it to Heaven, after all, in the end. In this way the Net of Salvation is very wide.

But some people, who refuse God utterly, will go to Hell, regardless of how they started out. And this is ultimately what they themselves truly want. As C.S. Lewis, not a Catholic, once said, "The doors of Hell are locked from the inside."

>they believe in a cosmic galactic epic where Jesus and the Devil are gods of other planets and brothers like its Star Wars or dbz or something.
It's semi true. They're not Gods of other planets but they're /from/ them or something. According to Mormon space opera theology, God is from a planet called something like Kolob, Jebus and Da Devl are brothers and the people who live on the moon look like Quakers. They also think Adam is the biological father of hyoomin Jebus, God has a bajillion "spirit wives" who he actually fugs and impregnates near constantly and that's where souls come from; they are literally God's children. Oh, and if you live a good Mormon life, you get to go on an intergalactic mission to start your own planet; our God lived a good whatever religion he was on Kolob life and his God gave him the ability to create Earth as a reward because that's part of the the universe's master plan. Unless you're female. Females are not allowed to be Gods/Goddesses and it they lived a good, Mormon life, they get to be perpetually pregnant for all eternity as a spirit wife to some guy who lived a good, Mormon life.
Yes, they actually believe this scientology-tier nonsense.
Also, according to their own books, they should all be vegans. They latch onto the part of The Word of Wisdom, the rules for healthy, Mormon living, that say to avoid hot drink and strong drink (IE coffee, tea and alcohol) but not the part that says to only eat meat as last resort when vegetable foods aren't available. They're cafeteria Christians, just like all Christians are, selectively picking which parts of the meal wind up on their dogmatic lunch tray.
But hey: cosmic sex!
