Regardless, whatever number the Krabby Patty is at would likely be around two to three times the calories of a normal burger. This would put the Superman total around 60,000 to 130,000 burgers. Not as many, but still more than SpongeBob could presumably cook in a day.

We've barely retired the top tournament powerhouses, and yet nobody really complains about that. Before Skeletor, you had a surprisingly strong Kronk sweep, a less expected Tom win, a campaign-heavy Grievous win after years of build-up, and a campaign-heavy Zorak win where he came out over Carl and two returning powerhouses in the final four. I'd argue the main deviation for King is that a couple of the winners, namely Batter and Shadow, have had more post-win regrets behind them. I somewhat get it, but then you have a character like Grievous leaving Hank currently capped off as just a runner-up. Reminds me a lot of how Shadow beat JC. I could even go and say Grimm was somewhat analogous to Grievious in particular.Really? I'd argue Shadow needed a "proof of concept" run in 2023 instead of having to face Rayman right from the start of that year's tournament. It's not like he was in every previous tournament and losing the first round all those times. He wasn't an entirely explored candidate going into 2024, and that's a big factor that doesn't get brought up much.

After that run, it turned out a surprising amount of anons genuinely enjoyed his game past just the earlier memes. The game ranked very well in the separate /v/GA event a bit after that year's King took place. Garland taking it was someone a lot of anons were considering. He had the campaign for it, and when he beat Doomguy in round 2 a lot looked in his favor. All in all? Calling Garland an "unexpected winner" is at best really misunderstanding the circumstances behind his win.He was a top 5 seed as well in 2022, which is hard to call unexpected. In fact, I'll go further: Grimm and Shadow were both high seeds the years they actually won. Now Grimm's climb was more organic than Shadow's own, and you can argue that a lot thought Shadow would just be a fluke. Still, the whole narrative that King's last four winners were all "unexpected" just seems false, and I'd go a step further to say that Garland and Grimm were hardly the most out there options to win their respective years. The main factors that really unite these four winners are insane hype campaigns and, at least Garland onwards, edge factor.

For the former, Grimm won a couple years after his initial post-BS2 debut and Batter simply had nothing new going on. As for "hype OOC", who out of the actually fit this other than Batter? Even with Batter I feel some of the more accurate campaigning he had going on the same time was overlooked, such as purification actually being brought up a lot. Shadow was over the top for his game counterpart, but very in line with how he was perceived on the internet for at least a decade. Grimm made more sense having the "power of friendship" deal than Batter, and the schizo alliance mainly came up because of the Eggman comparisons. That was a little dumb, but only one part of his whole campaign.It's fair not to like Batter, Garland, Grimm, and Shadow as winners. Just worth noting that they're not as comparable as I've seen at times. There's definitely similarities, but they're not true equals outside of the "hype tournament protagonist" campaigns you could pin on all four. To be transparent here, I have several favorites I'm still sitting on here wishing they could win King, including some of the characters regularly deemed powerhouses. I didn't need any of these four to win over other options, but I've just accepted that it did in fact happen. Just glad I don't actively dislike any of them.
