Theres a episode of DOUG that continues to bother me to this day.

Its the episode where Dougs class sells candy bars for fund raising. The thing is is that everyone collectively admitted its a uphill battle cause of the overall infamous reputation that the candy "Tastes like Concrete/Cement."
He fails of course and Roger suggests he masquerade the candy as another to sell it.

The first one he tries this on is Mr. Swirly, who tastes the fake, Doug feels guilty, and lets him taste the candy himself. This is how we learn not only is he a sweet maker, but that the candy is his own. They rush over to his factory where they find out that the reason for the candy being hard as a rock and taste like cement is cause a truck was literally pouring cement constantly into the vat, which they stop.

I can't help but think of several things wrong.

1. The school decided the best candy to sell was candy no one wants and is infamous enough that no one wants it putting it on the students to make the impossible possible.

2. This has gone on long enough to where its gained this reputation. The reason why this is what bothers me is the fact that for this to happen it would have to have gone on for some time.

3. Mr. Swirly is either apathetic to his business or is that completely out of touch that he not at all wondered why his candy is selling, but no one did a taste test themselves. No one questioned where this attitude about it is coming form.

4. Not only did someone have to drive the cement truck in there, but no one between the driver, workers, or management thought it odd or out of place. Not one of them thought "Wait does cement go into candy?" Its not like its corn syrup or something that might not usually go in candy, its something that is horribly inedible and always will be.

This only furthers my feeling this town pools some of the biggest morons the country could ever pull.

I think you're taking it a little too seriously, anon.
>>
Yeah Bluffington's full of retards, Skeeter is basically a god to them and that's why he lives life on lazy mode.
>>
Swirly made so much candy he couldn't keep track of everything he was making, something he tells Doug outright and also left the factory running to his workers because he was personally manning their neighborhood truck most of the time (though another episode does show that he actually spends at least some of his time actually managing his own factory). Though given he put idiots in charge that mixed cement into candy, I guess he's not that bright
>>
Considering the only other episode we see Mr. Swirly in his factory is literally melting down like a nuclear plant and exploding ice cream from it's smokestacks I think he's just not a very competent guy.
>>
lel this is one of the only episodes I actually remember

Take it a step further:
1. How has the truck not run out of cement? This would mean someone keeps filling it
2. How can the truck be anywhere near a machine that makes food and needs to be up to code and indoors?
3. How is the machine made for food processing working liquid rock through itself without being destroyed?
4. How is the guy still in business if his product is horrible?

99 percent of Swirly's product is apparently amazingly delicious. This one just seemed to slip through the cracks. It's made specifically only during scout fundraiser season so it must not be made often enough to him to have caught onto the problem before.

>Everyone in Doug is a Idiot
Not bigger idiots as those portrayed in Springfield.

I mean I can see it, but its just makes it stupider. That means everytime they start making it someone has to order the cement truck to come pour cement into the vat.

"Oh hey its time to make that specific candy again, better call in the usual ingredients. Cocoa, sugar and a ungodly amount of cement."

Finally we've got the culprit
>>
Eh, they only make booster bars once a year so it slipped through the cracks.

How about the fact that Swirly bought the Honker Burger - a Bluffington institution going back decades when Mr. Dink was a teenager wearing the burger suit - and turned it into his gaudy ice cream shop?

I didn't know it was a trend. I'm just aware of credit card epsiodes

Checks out.

So there's a cement truck coming in and pouring cement once a year specifically when booster bars are being made?

Exactly. It's corporate cost cutting at its finest. Swirly delgated to his middle management who knew that people buy the bars anyway because they get guilt tripped into it. So they found a filler additive to reduce expenses, like sawdust back in the day. Bonuses and golden parachutes for all involved.

I remember the episode vividly, but I think it went to the back of my mind vault before I was old enough to question the logic of things.
