Social commentary and representation are fine, but a lot of the "woke media" people were mad about always had the specific feeling like the writer was fellating themselves for writing it by trying to cram in some of the most unnatural dialogue or moments in order to get said commentary into stories. The time-skips and oversized cast was the problem with S2, hard to get invested in a story when the main characters are swapped out every season. By season 3 Trump derangement syndrome had ravaged California and the writing staff had all gone insane, I almost couldn't believe it when they did Trump Lex Luthor; it would have been funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

It was weird how Weisman, the guy known for pacing character arcs across multiple episodes, handled Superboy. For 25 episodes he's angsting about Superman rejecting him and then they barely touch on it at the last second like they forgot about the subplot.

Kons relationship with Clark is complicated, despite calling him his brother he is his illegitimate son and you can't even blame Clark not wanting to be his father since he had no part in his conception or creation. Worse still is that Kon is physically a teenager, if he had been a child it would have been easier to deal with but Kon is basically a toddler in a teenagers body;Their relationship was always gonna take a long time to iron out and S1 takes place over the course of just 5 months, Kon is ashamed of his own reflection and thinks of himself as defective. Meanwhile Clark had a teenager dropped in his lap after spending his whole life thinking he would be the last of his kind. That doesn't get fixed in a single episode.I hate that the timeskip robbed us of seeing both of them come to terms but I understand why it took Clark several months to work up the courage to talk with Conner. I don't think Weisman forgot about it so much as it would have required more screen-time than he had available to him so he stuffed in the timeskip.
