I always thought Hickman to be the natural spiritual heir Morrison but seems like Morrison here is either lying about never having read hickman work

>Hickman to be the natural spiritual heir Morrison
no
>>
>>150914881
Why would he be lying about that, i'm not a fan of Morrison but Hickman try to harpoon his style but it come off as even more obnoxious and at the very least Morrison can somewhat write decent characters, Hickman is just all about his big plot and gimmick but when you look inside the characters just feel empty.
>>
>>150915163
Hickman's problem is that he's better suited at telling complicated plot-driven conspiracy thrillers with an emphasis on external conflict and with simple characters. He's bad at capeshit because capeshit is composed of pulpy action-adventure/thrills and soap opera levels of melodrama and emotional tension.

Kieron Gillian spoke of how every author is innately drawn towards specific genres and modes of writing, and his words mostly ring true.

Hickman can't do people. He really needs to be on a collaborative team with people who can create living people to msje hus ideas shine.

A lot of his writing is brilliant and fun but ultimately the people in that world are servicable but hollow at best, inhuman at worst. Which is ironic. Because they shine best when they are somewhat inhuman.

They all have their styles. Its like okay im out of kratom weed and lsd...guess I'll pick up a Grant Morrison book.

>I always thought Hickman to be the natural spiritual heir Morrison
why do you think that
>>
>>150914881
>Morrison-I never got comics from Marvel so I've never read Hickman
Op- dOeS tHiS mEaN mOrRiSoN hAtEs HiCkMaN?!!?!?1

From a few other answers it sounds like Morrison doesn't really read comics that aren't provided for free. They also said they weren't up on current DC for the same reason.

>I always thought Hickman to be the natural spiritual heir Morrison
Why the fuck would you think such a stupid thing?

>but seems like Morrison here is either lying about never having read hickman work
See above. Why would you assume he's lying when he says he doesn't read Hickman?
>>
>>150914881
In what way is Hickman a natural heir to Morrison, I don't see it
>>
>>150914881
He just knows Marvel stinks so he stays away.

OP really is a fuckin brainlet
>>
>>150917088
I think it's a little kids idea of what being a comic writer is like, like
>He gets paid to write comics he must read like all the comics but it's cool because that's basically his job!

Meanwhile, I imagine most writers read less and less as they go on in the industry.

Shut up DCfag
>>

Hickman was the original decompressed marvel guy
He was good on FF, everything else was shit
same with Bendis. a one hit wonder
>>
>>150914881
>I always thought Hickman to be the natural spiritual heir Morrison
1. no reason to think that, and i like hickman
2. he doesnt read new comics, not that extraordinary really. not a diss at all.
3. no offense but this kinda thing would do better on r/comicbooks or r/marvel or something
>>
>>150917344
Nobody asked you, marveldrone.
>>
>>150914881
No. Morrison just doesn't read Marvel. He actually said somewhere he enjoyed the little he read of his Avengers run.
>>
>>150914881
A writer I follow said in a podcast interview that comic writers don't like reading characters and teams they're done with because it's like looking up how your ex is doing
>>
>>150914881
more like hackman
>>
>>150917827
>Hickman was the original decompressed marvel guy
lmao, that isn't true. Hickman debuted during 2006 with The Nightly News in Image. And by year Marvel was already embraced the decompressed style since at least the height of the Ultimate universe and Bendis becoming the central writer in Avengers.
>>
>>150914881
Why do you give a fuck?
I like Morrison and Alan Moore and they hate each other.
>>
>>150915467
>They also said they
ISHYGDDT
>>
>>150922392
Use pronouns?
>>
>>150914881
>What OP think is being said: "yeah I haven't read his works because I don't like them"
>What is actually being said: "yeah I haven't read his works because he works for the other publisher so I haven't been able to confirm this for myself"
Retard
>>
>>150917088

fuck you
>>
>>150915467

>>

>>
>>150917967
