I hate this meta shit. Some big books are popular and well liked for a reason, they are good but they become overhyped and people act like they are the best thing ever. Then idiots buy into overhype. Either they call it bad because their overhyped expectations don't meet reality. Or they appeal to the authority of a book regardlessly of whether they like it or not.People really ignore the context too. A lot of the best books of the 80s/90s were made into a life raft after comics crashed in the 90s, people clung onto them as being great and making the medium relevant even when things were falling. People talk far too much about the meta conversation or comics rather than the comics themselves.

Honestly there are some people who only go to comic stores on “free comic book day” and it was always so embarrassing to see. I feel like reading IDW or Dark horse comics is the bare minimum to show you have some kind of interest in the medium
