flapjack was just too ugly of a show. even if that was the intention it just becomes tedious to look at gross weird sailor man #3987. it was novel in the 90s with MADTV and ren and stimpy, but it doesnt translate well to modern(at the time) audiences. and the whole theme of candy being the buried treasure only reinforces the creepy nature of the show. its got epstein island vibes in a bad way.the second biggest draw to the show is obviously the VA for Knuckles but once you get over the novelty of "look its the dutchman va in another nautical themed cartoon" his voice becomes a chore to listen to.
