Why do i love this story so much? the movie and the comic
>>150927417When you deconstruct something it means it's a toy that's lost interest to you.
>>150927435But i still like other superhero stories, but watchmen remains one of my favorite. I really do like how everyone is mentally unstable and therefore relatable in it, too
>>150927417>the movie Well If I had to guess, I'd bet you're retarded.
>>150927417I love the comic, but the movie is so bad. It has some cool scenes like the birth of Manhattan, but that's it.
>>150927435Incorrect.
bump
>>150927417You tell us.
>>150927417Because it is very high concept story with an unusual philosophical twist at the ene.
>>150927417Moore and Gibbons gave a few fucks about making a good comic.
>>150927417I liked because of Rorschach and Ozymandias while I found all the other characters meh but since reddit and Moore say I'm not meant to support Rorschach I have kind of stopped liking Watchmen.
>>150927417It's a very good looking book, especially the original run where the colors printing takes on this flourescent quality. It's as grounded as a super-hero comic can get while having moments of leverage for some characters to really get fleshed out throughout the story, and the many interpretations you can apply to the characters themselves. But I think what makes watchmen so good is that it's an unabashed time-capsule of what Moore was interpreting as American culture in the 80s, which was a fairly gritty era for NY despite the glamorization of 80s culture in tv and movies.Watchmen is as grounded as you can make a super-hero story
>>150927417comic was fine in a vacuum, did insane damage to the superhero genre via dc hiring snyder to do gritty miller superheroes and ruined dc movies for a decade
>>150933086Moore didn't like the idea of fanboys idolizing Rorschach and telling him about it as he made his way to a urinal. It basically tells him that his adult readers didn't grasp the severity or the absurdity of the comic when they say this fucked up dude with a fucked up life is "literally me!". Rorschach is obviously meant to be a tragic hero to be sympathized with, and Ozymandias is ultimately the triumphant villain. The devil wins sometimes.Manhattan is my favorite character. Why would you care about what Reddit thinks?
>>150933220>Why would you care about what Reddit thinks?I don't but if Moore himself had another vision for his work I try to see it in the way he does it, and when that happens I think "dude, this is crap", what I like about Watchmen is my personal view of it, but once I view it in the way it was meant I think it's trash. Also just to be clear unlike with Rorschach I don't support Ozymandias, I just like the character for the way it was writen.
>>150933568>I try to see it in the way he does itI doubt it. I don't think you know know how he views it if you're still posting this way. Also, your view is the one that matters.
>>150927417One of the few examples of capekino.
>>150927522>Snyder derangement syndrome mindbroken retard calls others retarded.Oh boy the irony lol.
>>150927417There's always new things you can find or interpret from it on rereads
>>150933220>Why would you care about what Reddit thinks? He has no self confidence whatsoever so he goes to the place where it's mandatory to up vote and those down voted get the boot.
>>150933086>>150933220Watchmen doesn't work if you're not endeared to Rorschach. Moore knew he was creating a likable character. It's not that he's "wrong" as much as that Moore doesn't want you to think you are literally Rorschach.
>>150934721Nah, brother, it's a bad movie. It's shit as a film and shit as an adaptation. I've thought that since I first saw it.The Doc Manhatten scene is pretty good though, but I think the reason is that's the scene that he changed the least.
>>150933086Comedian and rorschach are my favorite characters but i also really liked silk spectre 1 and manhattan alot too>>150935517I dont understand how the movie is "bad", its literally one of my favorites
>>150936235
>>150936235> Comedian Literally how? He’s a pretty good character and the moments when you manage to see his weakness like his scenes with Moloch and Silk are nice but the others far outshine him
>>150933174> Watchmen is as grounded as you can make a super-hero storyOnly if you remove the panel where Ozy catches that bullet with his hands.
>>150936512>Literally how? Hes the most relatable to me. Alongside dr manhattan. Rorschach is cool but as relatable tbqh
>>150936535> Alongside dr manhattan. What are you doing 2 years in the future in this very moment?
>>150936235Tom Spurgeon's review is a good read:https://web.archive.org/web/20090312045444/http://www.comicsreporter.com/index.php/cr_review_watchmen_film
>>150936547>What are you doing 2 years in the future in this very moment?Hopefully ill be dead by then but if im still alive, probably shitposting or jacking off
>>150936512Comedian is also my dad's favorite character. I can get it.
