The reason why he's the one that points out all the "stupid costume" stuff is because that costume stuff starts to limit him more and more as he grows more and more notorious. If Venture had remained a has-been shitty doctor, he'd be unironically happier, because then he'd be the only person that cared enough about him to arch him, but as Venture "improved", he couldn't "improve" as fast as him and started to resent the guild/villain rules.
