Why was it beloved then but loathed now?
>>
>>150934048
I don't know a single person who ever liked Identity Crisis. I remember people bitching about it in the shop as it released.
>>
>>150934048
how come Wondy's costume isn't there?
>>
>>150934090
They have the Lasso of Truth so its close enough

who stole the outfit? You know one of those perverts nabbed it.

So you don't know anyone at all huh?

>Why was it beloved then
Reminder that at the time Plasticman made a whole arc about how bad this was.
>>
>>150934048
Who the fuck liked this shit?
>>150934199
It was one issue. That run sucked too, unfortunately, despite the winning combination of Kyle Baker and Plastic Man.
>>
>>150934138
Nta, but I hated it, and everyone I knew who read comics at the time hated it.
>>
>>150934133
Me but don't tell anyone.

Was it?

Only comic book sites praised the book. The whole sentiment about the story was, at best, divisive.
>>
>>150934048
Comic readers are desperate, especially when something new and different comes out, because they spend so much time reading ongoing swill.

>beloved then
I don't believe you.
>>
>>150934048
other hacks tried doing it again but worse so the original book get's bad rep.

>Why was it beloved then

It was absolutely not "beloved" then. Once the idiotic ending was out, every single person hated Identity Crisis. And even before it most people turned on it because of the pointless asshole moves like killing Tim Drake's parents, raping Sue Dibny etc.

In the beginning people did get hyped because Brad Meltzer is one of those writers that are good at pretending they write good stories (until you see them in full and realize they werre shit all along). Every individual page in Identity Crisis looks like it belongs in a good comic. But when you put them together you can't avoid seeing that the story is awful and ruins characters.

Until early 2010, it was divisive. But after that, the consensus among non-casual fans is that it's a bad story. And I have no doubt that some of these drama tubers will make videos trashing this story, which will make even casual fans hate this book. Is it bad? It's really bad, it's everything that Gail Simone and Kingdom Come criticized, but even worse.

Niche or child's interest
Gets huge
Gets old to majority
Gets back to niche or child interest

The god awful production values didnt help
>>
>>150934485
you're wearing it right now, aren't you?
>>
>>150934048
It was never believed. It was shock value at the time. The controversy is what made it popular or rather I should say infamous.

Wrong

Based.
>>

I never read Identity Crisis but that makes it sound extremely retarded

She's crazy, so it is justified.
