Due to the editing of the intro for The Adventures of Batman & Robin, I believed Batman could make things explode by striking the pic related pose.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YW95-twyO40>0:36I held on to this believe despite Batman never making blowing shit up with dramatic poses in any Batman media ever, and I insisted on using this power whenever I played Batman in the playground despite the other kids insisting it wasn’t a thing.
>no powers>batman has THIS power guys! What I'd do to have your optimism and imagination, anon.
>>150942246Thanks to the X-Men arcade game, I thought Wolverine really could do that sonic boom-lookin' special move. I would watch the cartoon and wait in vain for him to do it.Same with Colossus and that WHOOOOOOOAH solar flare thing.
>>150942902This, but Nightcrawler's insane bullshit.
My first time seeing Green Lantern was Justice League. For a long time, the only things he ever did with his ring was shoot green lasers and erect force fields. So I thought that was all the ring could do, instead of, you know, make constructs of any object ever limited only to his imagination.
from Justice League animated I thought Wonder Woman was supposed to be Supermans girlfriend because....their costumes both seem to resemble the american flag? So i thought they were like a couple and they were like the parents of the justice league. idk why I thought this.
I was so sure that A Pup Named Scooby-Doo was made first, then they decided to have the gang grow up.
>>150943747Apparently they couldn't let him make constructs due to a budgeting mandate at the time, so for at least the first few years of the show they just couldn't really do anything but lasers, bubbles, and the occasional flat surface.
>>150944500>due to a budgeting mandate at the timeBudgeting for what? The 2-D "props" they would have to draw?
>>150944581Yes. Apparently whoever had the final say on animation considered it too expensive to draw more complex constructs compared to simple beams and such, so it was basically mandated that they stick to the simple shit to save money, even if an episode might otherwise have room for it in the budget.Basically penny pinching.
>>150943747>>150944500>>150944662>>150944581You've never had a job in the animation industry so I'll be the one to inform you that production pipelines are a bit more complex then just drawing stuff. For every construct they either put into the script or storyboard it needs to go to the design team so they they can make the design plans for how to handle it and send it to the animation team overseas. It might seem like a small thing, but design is one of the most understaffed and overworked sections of the animation industry, so coming up with assets would have been a meaningful burden on production.Every weapon or locale, every character or font, every, color or vehicle, even the way they visually depict (design) the powers needs to be run through the design team and one of the quickest way to overburden them is to incorporate into a story a type of asset that needs to be re-imagined, re-designed, re-approved every episode. I don't know JL or JLU's production schedule but if it's anything like other warner shows from the era it wasn't like they had all the time in the world.
>>150942246Thanks to this cover (and one with Mugalak), an ad that asked if you would’ve died of laughter or fear (yeah, I should’ve realized it sooner), a sneak peak of a page with a creepy ghost dog on said ad and an image of Zick and Elena running from Bombo (who had a weird grin on his face an with mucus dripping from his nose) I thought for years that Monster Allergy was a genuine horror comic
>>150943747his lack of imaginative abilities become even more obvious when he meets the green guardsman who creates cartoony anvils, giant scissors, and bird cages
when i was a kid i thought the real ghostbusters was the first ghostbusters anything since it was the first thing i remember seeing of them
>>150944371Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island kept referring to Jacques as the ferryman, but I didn't know what a ferry was so I thought they were calling him the fairyman and was so confused how a fairy became a werecat.
>>150945093I also thought that OG Ben 10 was a contemporary show when I watched it for the first time as a kid.
I used to think Wolverine’s name was X-man
>>150942246You were a stupid kid.
I thought Superman needed his cape to fly. Without it, he couldn't fly.
>>150942246On an episode of Spidey TAS he quipped that he got his powers from winning the lottery which I took to be true and I thought that was super irresponsible because most people wouldn't have become a hero with the powers.
>>150946139I'm pretty sure I would've believed this back then. In X-Men, humans try to stop the Juggernaut with tanks, so Juggs laughed and said, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but tanks can never hurt me!" I thought he wasn't joking. So for an embarrassingly long time, I thought that Juggernaut's weakness was getting hit with a stick or a rock.
>>150944989Just a random passerby but it's nice to learn something. At best I've read the Complete Digital Animation Course book but I know one book doesn't compare to the actual stresses of production behind the scene.
>>150946038You're thinking of Ralph Hinkley
>>150942246When I heard that the original He-Man series was decades old, I thought it was made in the 1960s. In the early days of television.
>>150945461Who wasn’t?
>>150946916Well let's look at it this way, everyone might have been a stupid kid, but only certain people go out of the way to broadcast it to the world.
>>150942246I thought wolverine was named X-Man.
>>150942246the old Garfield and Friends cartoon made me think Garfield is funny
>>150945386Yo holy shit no way I just posted >>150947064
>>150942246My favorite from one of theses threads was the anon who thought Daredevil was a literal demon in Hell's Kitchen and he was called that because he was a devil who dared to be good.
I thought the Curious George movie was going to adapt the ether scene from Curious George Takes a Job, because the trailer included the apartment painting scene.
>>150947082That's sick as hell.
>>150942902Thought Woverine's healing factor just meant that he could heal slightly faster than a regular person until the movie where he healed instantly Also didn't know Rouge could steal powers, just thought she was like a light version of Superman >>150947082From the Spiderman TAS I thought Daredevil could actually "see" using his mask/glasses that let him see stuff but just with a red filter Also thought Rhino was just a normal buff guy that dressed like a Rhino and had no powers
>>150942246I used to think the Batman 66 movie was just how america was. I had no concept that it was made years ago when I first saw it
>>150942246No he only had that power because he was wearing that suit, didn't you see the difference?
>>150944989Yeah, Diamondhead and Upgrade were used sparingly on Ben 10 because of that
>>150945119I mean in-universe they show the first movie was a movie based on their exploits so in a way they are the "real" Ghostbusters
>>150947046Who cares, nobody’s gonna beat you if you post your past confusions here
>>150942246I thought the parents in Fairly OddParents knew about Cosmo and Wanda. I forget exactly what scenes made me think that, but it was something like how they laughed at things that wouldn't be funny unless they knew.
>>150947277Interestinglyt enough the 90s cartoon did actually explain Rogue's encounter with Ms. Marvel.
>>150942246I used to think Inspector Gadget had always been a robot turns out he just had a pretty messed up accident slipping with a banana peel. Another one from the same series is that I used to think Dr. Claw's face looked like that MAD logo but then the toy revealed his face, although some people think that's gaslighting more than anything.
I thought Hope Summers was THE mutant, as if we were endgame in the X-Men comics.
>>150942246Yes , we have Childhood misconceptions. It happens every time.
>>150947081>>150947064So this is what it feels like when doves cry…
>>150943747John Stewart is the only Green Lantern who cannot perceive breakfast.
>>150942246A childhood friend insisted Patrick wasn't a star, just a human that believed it was one
>>150942902IIRC the HOT CLAWS he had after being resurrected could do something like that.
>>150942246The Childhood.
>>150942246We have it alright.
>>150942246You thought that Batman was a fucking Power Ranger?
>>150944500It kinda worked for Jon Stewart specifically because of his no-nonsense military attitude. He just makes shapes that do the job, none of this smacking toys together crap.
Because of 90s Spidey, I didn't even know he had super strength
>>150942246What a fool lol
>>150942246reasonable, Dracula can do that and he's spooky af
>>150948296if only
>>150942246Oldfag hereBecause of 70's cartoons, especially Superfriends, I thought there was a government organization that was formally called 'The Proper Authorities' since that's the only form of government or law enforcement they would refer to.
>>150942246In the spider-man the animated series cartoon from the 90s when Peter has the symbiote suit and was chasing shocker I thought it was shocker who was yelling "YOU CAN'T ESCAPE ME" because Peter sounded a lot like Jim Cummings there (Shocker's VA)
>>150947064This one is a classic
