It seems like DC removed Percy's Rebirth Teen Titans from canon? (The one with Damian hanging out with Raven/Starfire/Beast Boy).

It's not shown in the issue nor mentioned in the index, while Abnett's Rebirth Titans and Adam Glass's Teen Titans were.

I suppose it's not too surprising. That run wouldn't have made sense in current continuity with Beast Boy and Raven's ages

>History is written by the winners
Leaving aside how self-congragulatory this is, I have always hated this expression. History is not always written by the winners, the losers also often write history because they have a vested interest in trying to make themselves look better and their enemies worse. How else would the Lost Cause of the Confederacy gained so much traction in America if the South lost?

It's weird how Marvel works on a "tons of possible alternate futures" premise, while DC works on a "all of these future stories take place in the same future" premise, although things change with every reboot." Continuous "DA UNIVERSE'LL NEVAR BE DA SAME!!!!11!" events have made jobbers out of everyone.
>>
>>150958326

The stuff he didn't write in that imprint did range from good to great (Wonder Twins, Dial H, Amythest)

>>150958378

There was actually a miniseries a couple of years ago by Orlando that was about the transition from Kamandish era to setting up the Legion that I liked but I don't think anyone else did or read it. And then that Bendis book hyping his Legion that was about What's her name living from the present to Legion time soft retconned it by ignoring it.
>>
>>150958378
Side effect of Post-Crisis Earth. With no alternate Earths to be where these futures take place, they all had to suddenly become the semi-canonical futures for a lot of characters.

They tried to remedy that during Countdown and Multiversity (Batman Beyond, Kamandi, and Armageddon 2001 all happen on different Earths now), but DC doesn't give a flying fuck about the Multiverse, so most people don't notice. Like, the current implication is that Batman Beyond won't happen on Earth-0 because Damian, Jon, and Wondie's kid will be the new Trinity in 15ish years.
>>
>>150958611

52+1 Earths and only TWO of them have ongoing series.
The multiverse is only used for events and that's it. It's not even used as a setting until itself; its the backdrop of a fighting game level. Hell, one of the two previously mentioned Earths is only around for an event and will most likely being shown the door once DC KO is finished.

I don't think they ever explicitly state WHOSE hand it is if it wasn't the Anti-Monitor's. That being said, it's not like they ever show someone staying long enough to see another big ass hand push it back. It's funny to think that it was simply Krona looking at whatever hand pops out at the beginning of time that determines how existence shapes out and not... you know. The Anti-Monitor using the power of all superheroes to just stick is fingers in the vortex to effect everything.

Primarily because she's literally just a 2020s reboot of Joker's Daughter and not a real replacement for Harley. An eThot who livestreams herself twerking while preaching about how cool chaos is doesn't not a moll make.

I'd tolerate her much more if she was treated as the stated historical founder of The Jokerz from the Batman Beyond timeline.

All this series has really done is highlight how much trash DC has collected over the years. A clean slate reboot feels more necessary now than ever.
>>
>>150967020
That’s what Absolute Comics exactly are you fucking casual zoomer.
>>
>>150967055
No they're not you retard. Absolute line doesn't make the main line any clearer or cleaner. If anything it's going to fuck it up further through crossovers.

>>150950180
it's nice seeing Kenan with his team
>>
>>150967020
>doesheknow.jpg
more than half of this "trash" you're criticizing is precisely the end result of DC's obsession with "clean slate reboots" over the decades
>>
>>150967089

Reboots are not the cause of this, bringing the past back and acknowledging the past is.
Once you reboot, the past should be gone. Just gone. Erased. Foreverially delitized.
>>
>>150967089
It seems more that DC can never actually commit to a completely clean slate reboot across the board and keep some parts intact while others are reset. This goes all the way back to Crisis on Infinite Earths and was really noticeable in N52.
>>
>>150950248
>hush
Ah I see

Where I can read this?
this story doesnt exist, but we pretend we all read it, right?

>and was really noticeable in N52.
Post-Brightest Day was a set up for a line refresh, no different to things like the current DC line refresh (All In). You have an event, set up some stuff for future books. Brightest Day's ending brought in Vertigo characters like Swamp Thing and Constantine. Other characters like Aquaman were resurrected. (Animal Man was originally a White Lantern too but cut.) So yeah, the actual reboot stuff was done in an incredibly short turn around, and that's mostly stuff like Justice League, Superman etc. The Scott Snyder Batman Court of Owls storyline was originally a Dick Grayson (Dickbats) story, similar to Black Mirror (another Dickbats Snyder story), but then adapted for Bruce Wayne, which actually majorly weakened the story (the Talons/Lincoln Marsh were all connected to Grayson). Batwoman, Batman Inc, Green Lantern, etc, all carried on like nothing had happened. Aquaman, Swamp Thing etc were all part of that already planned line refresh and had been set up in Brightest Day. The New 52 did have a sales boost, it did have wider exposure in mainstream news and some people now are nostalgic for it. But ultimately it was just a line refresh given a different name and when the boost diminished they just went to Rebirth.

The thing is, it is always done for sales and peaks/troughs have happened before. Prior to Batman Year One, Batman sales in the 80s had slumped to 75,000, figures not seen since the 70s. They repeat reboots and refreshes because ultimately it works, even if it becomes a case of diminishing returns. The Absolute line is just another Elseworlds that people treat like a quasi reboot and that saw a big boost to sales (Absolute Batman #1 sold like 400,000 issues, and since then the title is still holding a good chunk of audience in the hundreds of thousands). Comics always have the same entrenched tricks and quality gets lost along the way.

>All this series has really done is highlight how much trash DC has collected over the years.
This series is just an encyclopedia with pictures. Any universe going for that many decades is going to accumulate stuff. The problem is seeing all that stuff doesn't make for interesting reading. This series is more like a repeat of the Official Handbook of Marvel Universe or DC's Who's Who. It's just stuff. I preferred the art in the Marvel's History of the Marvel Universe series. A better format is something like Grand Design. X-Men Grand Design by Ed Piskor actually felt interesting and like a narrative whilst also giving you a good deal of X-Men history (the Hulk one was weaker and I never read the FF one).

The problem as always is based on people's weird perception that these stories need constant reboot. The problem with comics is most stories are meh, poor art and bad writing. The truth is most comic books are not impenetrable to read continuity wise and people in the past picked up comics even when there were no collected editions, they just got context as they went along. But nowadays people build all these perceptions that make it seem impossible to read a series when it's not. A new creative team or line refresh is an easy and accessible jumping on point. But then that extreme issue of perceptions raises it's head again.

They mentioned Batman Who Keks but not Superboy Prime fisting him to death and getting his redemption?
>>
>>150967116
Post-crisis DC was chugging along fine until Didio came along and had a hissy fit that Barry Allen was no longer Flash and decided to destroy everything to restore the pre-crisis DC that he grew up with.
>>
>>150967428
If New 52 was just a temporary refresh, it shouldn't should have been line wide. It should have been a core number of books like Abs/Earth One or even Heroes Reborn.

Applying it line wide without a backdoor reset really destroyed the DC continuity and left us with the current mess.
>>
>>150967721
There's a lot of shit that doesn't make sense. The whole "everything is canon" thing at the end of Dark Knights/Metal/Whatever was suppose to mean that everyone remembers history as it played out for us readers. I.E., Barry should remember that Earth 0 was originally the Silver Age Earth-1 that survived COIE as New Earth, then got turned into Earth 0 after Infinite Crisis when the Multiverse came back. Hell, they're even leaving out Convergence, which was suppose to explain that all the other Earths are actually survivors of COIE instead of weird imitations like they were after 52. It's a moot point post-Doomsday Clock, but Barry should have explained that their memories of meeting the JSA were of them originally being from Earth-2, but then they merged. This is a have your cake and eat it, too moment.

Then again, I don't think they ever explained why the whole "If you were there at the beginning of time with Anti-Monitor, you remember the OG Multiverse" thing went away.
>>
>>150967116
The problem with that is that you have characters that people love BECAUSE of that past who suddenly become stolen valor literal-whose to the audience thanks to the reboot, so they have to do rush jobs to fix it.

The biggest example of this is Cyborg.
>Post-Crisis Cy finally getting a seat at the JLA's big boy table due to his years of being a notable Titan?
Makes sense.
>Post nu52 Cy being a fucking FOUNDING member of the JLA because some hackneyed bullshit about his cybernetics actually being made of New Gods tech?
Dumb as fuck; get this "I love TT03" diversity hire outta here.

Every pre-Crisis superhero is stored right before the start of the universe; a place specifically stated to be shielded from changes to the timeline. If you ever wanted to bring any of them back, you just send someone to that point, pluck them out, and you're good. Just put them back before Spectre pushes the Anti-Monitor's shit in.
>>
>>150967899
You also have Grant Morrison reintroducing Hal Jr. AirWave as alive, but now everyone's ignoring that to shill the one Johns made for the Lost Children with no commentary if the previous still died in IC or not.

Looks like he just turned into a bunch of energy and scattered everywhere. You can easily handwave Hal Jr. coming back by saying he just relayed himself back to the original point in space where he exploded and then flew back home.
>>
>>150967787
That's not accurate. There were a ton of issues with post-crisis DC not entirely erasing all pre-crisis continuity and their many attempts to try to reconcile different backstories.
>>

Winners force their versions. Lost cause of confederacy or WWII revisionism get so much tractions, because the power of the winning version diminishes with time and truth gets out

>>150968408
Yeah, Cereal Lord was firm back in the day that he wasn't dead but DiDio kek'd and said he'd never be back. They had him among the dead in Blackest Night later, but then Rebirth rebooted him.

What's really funny is that people just wanted The World of Flashpoint as its own continuing series and not "Let's change everything in the regular timeline into something completely different from what's going on now OR what was going on in the Flashpoint timeline". They set up a neat alt-world that was barely touched.

Like everything with the Legion, Donna Troy, Power Girl, Hawkman and the resulting Zero Hour.

I think that the only time Marvel tried to reconcile two futures together was when it was established that Killraven and Guardians of the Galaxy happened in the same future.
>>
>>150969017
>What's really funny is that people just wanted The World of Flashpoint as its own continuing series
Like I said in my main post, people like Elseworlds, hence why Absolute has been doing the rounds.

>"Let's change everything in the regular timeline into something completely different from what's going on now"
The stupid thing is how little change there really was. With all the books carrying on the dumb conceit they had is that nu canon was basically everything happening in 5 years. The new 52 is weird because, there were some alright books and stories. I just think the entrenched issues and ideas will always hold things back.
>>
>>150950145
I just realized that Waid skipped over the entirety of the Milk Wars event crossover they had with their Young Animal imprint lmao
>>
>>150970331
I think it's because that was before Marvel had so many futures that they decided to just pull a multiverse and say they're all alternate timelines. But because Killraven and the Martians had already been established as part of the past of the OG Guardians of the Galaxy, they just kept them in the same timeline.
>>
>>150971323
He also didnt cover JLA Avengers mostly because it is obvious that disney or better yet, the fucking OMD KLIQ didnt let DC post that event first until the sales of both batman crossovers are out.
Which is funny because Barry and Wally were the main actors in this and Barry has memories of the event as Bruce, Diana and Clark.
