He's had his whole character essentially torn up from the ground and revamped several times over and he's finally reached a good "end point" as a character. He's just happy to be alive with an ending that maybe he doesn't deserve, but he's earned. He should show up, randomly and without warning, in some C-tier hero's book for an arc with a character he has surprising chemistry with, and then be shelved again until next time. He doesn't need some big event role for at least a decade. And if you wrote him as discount Deadpool while you did it, at least it would be smaller in scale.
