Why do some x men have cool, unique costumes and others have the blandest most boring shit imaginable?
>>150951738Contrary to popular belief, the X-Men are actually a very disorganized group. The existence of coordinated team uniforms for certain squads or generations is more of an exception than the norm — a rare moment of order in their otherwise chaotic structure. This lack of organization isn’t entirely their fault, though; the team is usually dealing with one crisis or near-genocide after another, which leaves little room for proper management or structure.
>>150951738Because modern artists are lazy
Remember when they didn't have to shove a big fucking X down your throat?
>>150951738Because the original x-men were created conceptually as individual superheroes that happened to share a common origin for their powers, and thus had unique costumes as befitting a superhero. The later x-men were made specifically to BE X-MEN, and thus don't have an identity beyond it. But because no one in comics is ever allowed to go away, you have the different generations of characters all mixed together despite the fact that they clearly play by different rules.
>>150951738The fact that Armor never ended up as Wolverine's third teen girl side-kick annoys the hell out of me.
>>150952932Also obligatory.
>>150951738Part of it is marketingEvery official costume and redesign has to go through an approval processAnd from what I can tell someone at Marvel is pretty invested in keeping some X-Men characters like the New Mutants in team uniforms because those are their best known designs so they aren't really allowed to stray far from them
