>>150952706They're just suits, all they know is finances (and even then they barely know that since as long as cash is flowing and their estimated value is going up that's all they really care about).The only thing they see is an asset with potential profitability, nothing beyond that. They will test the waters with an older ip, see if there is enough buzz on it. Then grab a random creative person from their talent pool with enough ass kissing points or can vomit out enough modern buzzwords to sound like they're relevant to the target audience and hand them that ip simply saying "make this into a new show"After that what the product turns into will be a balancing act between whatever that individual they gave the project to wants to make of it and what their current focus groups tell them the target audience wants. The only way you get decent revivals is when the creative lead actually cares about the ip and has enough clout to push back on the dumber points of data from whatever braindead focus group they most recently tested.
