Why do you think they gave Lex ginger hair?

Struggle to think of many villains who are redheads desu, especially MALE villains

All redheads are a scourge of society. Not all bad people are redheads but all redheads are bad people
>>
I think OG Lex appearance was meant to be a redhead but an artist error made him bald
>>

No he was.

Lex was a redhead in his first appearance, with a red robe, genius intellect and hypnosis. There was another redhead that was his henchman, a bald henchman and "General Lupo" who was also bald. I think they a lot of characters were bald because it was just faster to draw, and it even looked like they just quickly scribbled hair onto Luthor in this one panel.

The next time Luthor appeared he was wearing a mask and wig, and was bald when he took it off. The fact that he's bald wasn't even mentioned and was likely just a retcon the way the Daily Star was changed to the Daily Planet.

They could have said his hair burned off when his blimp crashed or something, but it didn't really matter in that story. So the simple answer is that he was ginger because of the limited color palette they had that made a lot of characters gingers, and he went bald because it was just faster and easier to draw.

And that's why Brainiac is just a pantsless Luthor palette-swap.

I’ve noticed in old comics they will use spellings like tho and thru etc

Is this literally just how people wrote in the 40’s-60’s? Or is this to save space on the page with abbreviations?

Every letter cost money. So yes, they did use abbreviations and other shortcuts. Similar shortcuts were used in the days of telegraphs. And there were also similar (but not the same) kinds of abbreviations in Medieval texts.
Now those shortcuts are done to save time. It's all the same shit.

Clark must have had an entire wing dedicated to all of Lois and Jimmy's dumbass transformations if he's got "Luthor pre-BALD" and "Luthor BALD" as separate statues.

I thought from the thumbnail that this was Beavis and Butthead

All redheads are eventually related to Lex

Pied Piper seems to be. Glorious Godfrey too. Mammoth. Overmind. Baron Brimstone.
Hard enough to think of major villains who don't normally wear cowls or headgear of some kind other than the business/mob types.

The Joker, Riddler, and Penguin have all been depicted as ginger at least once, and I think that's odd.
