I've noticed a significantly large number people parroting that Tony was no hero before the UCM, or that he was an asshole and a villainesque hero.I know these people don't read shit, but What led to this perception of the character? Was Superior Iron Man so damaging to the character it made everyone believe Tony was an irredeemable asshole?Even if you go by previous non-comics iterations, Tony still showed a lot of heroic virtues, so what gives?

>>150975430It's Civil War. Superior was brief blip that most people don't remember.
>>150975430Dude comic twitter has been going hard lately saying what writers don't understand is that Tony Stark has a heart They also think he was better with a disability and even a secret identity since part of being disabled plays a role in what made the secret identity aspect so compelling if they know they can't really go back on it
If it wasn't for the MCU, Iron Man would've gone the Beast route at this point
>>150975430Alcoholics aren't heroes
>>150978881Wrong, you fag
>>150975430Ten years of nonstop abuse from Civil War to Superior, combined with RDJ in the MCU forever warping perception of the character
Bump
>>150976391The parts line up neatly if he has his heart covered by metal, but there was a severe over-reliance on "if I run out of power, I will die" which felt strange a blatant design flaw wouldn't be properly addressed. The back and fourth in the 70s after getting the surgery to remove shrapnel and replace damaged tissue with synthetic was also weird. Then he spends like a decade where they treat it like he was at 100% after the surgery and his problems are of a different sort entirely. The whole chain of increasing levels of paralysis and ways of getting around it that started with getting shot is just absurd though.
>>150975430RDJ version is easily the best iteration of Iron Man.
