This has been building in his series since it launched. There's a reason Snyder didn't have Absolute Aquaman mapped out.

They have been building a connection with Aquaman and Darkseid since this new volume started

The first one is Luthor. With the Man of Tomorrow movie coming out, it would make sense to go for a status quo where Lex becomes the new "God" of the DCU (although it would be a bit similar to what Marvel is doing with Doom).

The other one is Cyborg. Only character in the remaining 8 with a connection to Darkseid. Scott Snyder and Williamson talked about DC having big plans for the Titans for the event. And isn't it a bit suspicious Vic is the only Titan in the event? When Dick or Wally or Raven or Kory or even Gar would have probably been more popular picks?

Superman, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Guy Gardner or Aquaman winning would just be too disruptive for their respective series. While Joker is the obvious "bad guy" of the event
